OS survey.

Just a survey [again] on what kind of OS you're currently using [if you've multiple, state/vote which one you stay on most]

On another [almost] related news:
- Ballmer: Stay on Windows XP and You Will Face a Backlash - Business Center - PC World

So...do you guys agree with him?

Not ALL company will like to spends extra budget just to upgrade to Win Vista/7 compatible machines, probably those with servers and tech geek departments will receives the upgrades.

Me? I'm still with my XP...even though I've a vista lappy.

From what I've read and feedback from my friends that tested Windows 7, it seems...it's quite promising.

Still on my XP, loving it.

Kotarou 02-07-2009 06:12 AM

One on XP, one on Vista (main) and one on 7.

Loving them all. But I like 7's features at the moment (Aero Shake PWNS)

Sandrie 02-07-2009 07:48 AM

My laptop as of now runs Vista. It's alright, but I like my old XP laptop better ;;

Coffee 02-07-2009 09:23 AM

XP, because I can easily get some of Vista's features. ._.

Tamiki 02-07-2009 10:14 AM

Stuck with Vista...

TMM 02-07-2009 10:36 AM

I run XP on my desktop so I can play games, but it also dual boots fedora core. My lappy has ubuntu. Having tried vista and having used OSX (and OS 8.x and 9.x) for years before switching to building my own PCs (much much cheaper), I definitely feel that Linux is the best OS out there. I'm surprised I'm the only one that says so yet.

SkillzKillz 02-07-2009 09:28 PM

Vista.

At first it wasn't that bad, then it turned great. But now it just pisses me off because so many programs randomly crash -.-"

PedroRomero 02-07-2009 09:31 PM

PlayerKiller 02-08-2009 11:44 AM

Win XP still going strong.

Noctis 02-08-2009 11:55 AM

I've got Windows XP. I don't know anything much about Windows 7 yet, so currently curious about whether that one is good or not.

Light 02-08-2009 03:42 PM

Vista Ultimate, and loving it.

Queen 02-08-2009 04:02 PM

Windows Vista, grown very accustomed to it.

The guy is obviously holding a sales pitch. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Although he has a point that it'll probably backlash on the corps not willing to upgrade. My bet is this won't be happening till windows 7 arrives and is fully operational. I'm basing this on 2 facts:

1. The time between Vista & Windows 7. Just when Vista starts to take over Microsoft releases a beta for their new operating system. Instead of being plain silly and upgrading twice why not upgrade once. Unless you're one of those ipod/mac lovers and want to be state of the art. But HEY you probably would own a mac than wouldn't you? Which brings me to..

2. Economic crises, any corp currently running on Windows. Will not spend an amazing amount of money on upgrading. Upgrading a SMB will easily cost you more than $10.000 (Unless there are just 2 employees). Now where does a company find that amount of money in a time when everybody screams fire. Not to mention the coming Windows 7.

*for any one that wants to calculate the amount of money: Software licenses, hardware, technical equipment, technicians (depending on the size of the business), upgrade support & last but not least cost your employees are unable to make profit since their computer is being upgraded.

Rather than spousing out nonsense like this. I would rather see Microsoft open the doors to public going a bit more open source or at least work more with the ISO. Since i.e. the cross browser compatibility is just plain rubbish. About 5% of a web page you load is needed to fix stuff like that... unnecessary overhead.

Rather than thinking 1 year ahead think 10 years ahead and for god sake Vista was blown out of perspective just admit, regret & forget it.

*edit* Lol went a bit overboard with that.Ended up ranting.. Microsoft wont notice and care anyway.:py01:*edit*

Henreh 02-08-2009 07:44 PM
