My family and I used to make regular trips over to a Japanese restaurant, and this is what I always order, and in fact, end up with like, 4 or 5 plates of it.
Then, I started on my recipe binder and decided that this dish has to be one of them and here you are.
Let me make things extremely simple:
Slice whatever vegetables you want. (Green bell pepper's an awesome choice, along with eggplant/brinjals)
After slicing, start making the batter.
In a bowl, crack an egg. Add a cup of COLD WATER, and sift a cup of All-purpose flour.
A little note, don't overmix the batter, just stir till everything's combined.
Heat up a pan of oil, and start deep-frying.
Another note: You might want to adequately coat the vegetable, again, care not to overcoat it.
That's all. The simplicity of this beautiful dish...until your mum comes back from work and screams at how the floor is oily and all that..
