I hate giving people second chances. They usually just take it, chew on it, and shove it back in your face. That's pretty much what Nexon just did to me.
I'm certain most have heard of Maple Story's "Big Bang" update, where Nexon claimed to have made major changes to the exp system. Some of my local MMO friends, who are unwilling to test games themselves, and knew I had a Nexon Account, asked me to test Maple Story to see if the game was suitable for them. Grudgingly, I accepted, downloaded the necessary files, and attempted to get on the game.
How nice of the game to constantly disconnect me. If there's anything I hate more than Universal Launchers, it's launching through the Web Page (actually, I hate them both equally)
Of course, I'm no amateur. I know the necessary steps to try and resolve the issue. But this is NEXON, so I checked the support page and support forums first before doing anything. There was a couple of solutions that I tried. One did work, it went with the old launcher path so I wouldn't have to log in at the website. But then I ran into another problem that I never ran into before.
"You've been banned for illicit promoting"
The heck is that?! I haven't even been to Nexon since Dungeon Fighter's official release! I was able to log in with my password on the homepage without running into this message, so the possibility of getting hacked is a bit slim, but not uncommon for some idiot to take an account, and leave the PW and PIN intact.
Of course, no rage quit, yet. I'm stubborn as they come, wasn't going to give in yet. So I helpdesked both my ban, as well as my constant disconnection issues.
It. Took. A. MONTH. For them to reply. The support said my ban was lifted, I can get back on within 24 hours. They didn't say anything about my disconnection issue, but I figured this was the actual problem. So last night. I tried getting on through the homepage again, was constantly disconnected, again. So I tried going through the homepage, again I get disconnected. I tried going through the direct log in, and again, it said I was banned... AGAIN.
... Lifted my ban my- REALLY NEXON?! Really?!
No, no. I'm done with Nexon. I don't care if the guys that wanted me to look at Maple Story will be upset with me, but I'm not dealing with a company that's so piss poor, that I'd rather play a Pay to Play game.
Bite me Nexon, you failed me for the last time.

Fast content updates isn't much if there are things making it a pain to play. And when it comes to Maple Story, there was a list of reasons why it was pretty bad (for me at least, not going to speak for anybody else right now.) I'll give credit where credit is due, it's not Pre-Ijji Gunbound International bad, but bad.
When it comes to my direct issue with Nexon running their games, (Not counting player community... this time) It's not Nexon's Greed that I constantly run into, it's Nexon's "security" Incompetence that gets me. It just seems that 80-90% of their issues revolve around people having trouble accessing their games/player accounts due to security botching things.Posted 01-13-2011 at 10:51 AM by TheHYBIRD

MapleStory is an extremely old game. Of course it's going to have security flaws that will never ever ever change or be "fixed." Why? Because it's not possible. You'd have to make a whole new game, reprogram everything, use a whole new and completely different engine. That's the price you pay for playing such an old game. Ragnarok is no different.
