This Is Why I Don't Try to Be Helpful Anymore (LaTale/OGPlanet Forums)

Posted 09-19-2010 at 03:04 AM by TheHYBIRD
A couple days ago, I posted a reply in the OGPlanet LaTale Forum section (... Ok, I know some of you and starting to question my sanity right now, shut up... I had nothing better to do.) It was something over how many primes it'd take a person to jump from 60 to 80, or something. I quoted somebody's comment of a detailed formula to hit 60 to 80 in there, simply adding my opinion:

Quote:
"At the most, it WILL be 10. This is depending on the grinder though, as work rate, supplies on hand, supplies you can afford, knowledge of where to grind, and what to kill can be a factor.

Still, 10 is at the absolute worse, since there's a huge amount of quest and variety of grind spots to choose from, if you're going to hit spooky and toad mountain, 3-4 is going to do it, 2 if you have a really good party during 2x grind."
Honestly, I didn't think I was being smart, or better, or anything of the sort, just adding my opinion to the subject. Apparently I was wrong:

Quote:
"When I posted, I was under the impression that the prime user would have the intelligence to grind at a place where his 4mil prime won't be wasted. So no, it's not 10.

See that's why I like people like you, hybrid. 2 hours is an impossibility (I solo'd spooky with all the known buffs + 2x and it still took 3-4 hours), yet you post false information just to appear knowledgeable, that's really sweet.

To OP:

Just buff up and follow what I said. Hope to see you in the level 80 range soon. . "
Hang on, I didn't say anything about the original poster's intelligence, or possible lack thereof, I was just saying at the worse, it's gonna be 10, for anybody. Sure, 10 at the worse is arguable, but I don't it's necessary to call me an idiot. I also didn't say Soloing spooky with all buffs, but being at Spooky or Toad Mountain with "a really good party". It also seems it's being assumed that I'm saying it's going to take only one 2x to pull using only two Primes, I'll admit, this is a mistake on my part, I probably should have mentioned I never used more than one Prime per 2x grind.

Granted, I'm not the only person this poster was rude to, seems the person was putting down anybody else who didn't sync with their opinion before I even posted. I guess the problem is that as of late, I've been avoiding confrontation on the internet, on a rather high scale... Even on my short return to Rumble Fighter I've been mellow. Essentially I've been... Nice... As of late. So this person trying to say I'm an idiot acting smart for a non confrontational post has me irritated.

I'm not even going to touch the fact that I was being called and idiot, while they were getting my name wrong.

Wait... I just did touch on it, didn't I?

...

Crap!

I'd say moral-lesson learned, but I'd probably wander back there without thinking in a day or two...

And why they haven't perma-locked Nexon forums years ago is beyond me.

Indeed. Free gaming company forums suck. It's the natural order of things; you get what you pay for, and since you're paying for nothing, you get terrible service. Even though you're probably spending more money on the free game than a vastly superior pay to play one.

The thing is, the LaTale community, both in-game and forum, wasn't all that bad in the beginning, it's when people began to establish themselves as forum regulars or, the one I think is almost if not just as stupid as "noob" which is "pro", that's when things gotten to be so... Bad. It's an obvious pattern of viciousness, I know, but the question of "when the heck's logic gonna slap you upside the head" keeps playing in the back of my head. I really don't care what level you are, how you got there, or how many hours you spend lurking the forums you're not better than anybody else.

As for Pay to Plays, I never stuck around long enough to notice much between PTP and FTP games, truthfully, I hate PTP just for the reason they're PTP, if I get bored within an hour playing, I don't wanna be payin'. The one thing I did notice playing Ragnarok, is that the "no KS" rule was ENFORCED when I played it. LaTale don't get GM announcements of "do not KS, you morons".

Most of the LT community nowadays are a lot like RO's community; PvP status = your worth, and since PvP is so broken due to the unbalanced cash shop issues and overpowered gear/classes... it's just a huge mess. Not to mention Primes causing the huge issue, and OGP doing a terrible job with the game, and Aeria closing... It causes players to lose interest in the game itself, and even become "bitter" because they are without hope, but refuse to try other games or do something viable to help the company with the game.

Ragnarok is actually a pay to play game that has a cash shop, on both P2P and free servers. Ragnarok is considered a free to play game, honestly, with private servers everywhere and the P2P server being full of elitist idiots. I wouldn't recommend it.

It sounds like you're starting to see the crappiness of the conditions in MMOs today, both P2P and F2P. P2P = can't always keep interest enough in the game to keep paying money every month to play, F2P = game overall doesn't have the support/development it truly needs to be a really good game, and the community is let run wild. However, I do recommend FFXI for a great MMORPG that's P2P. There are problems with it, but it's overall amazing and you'll -never- become bored or run out of things to do in that game.

I have no idea where you get the "no KS rule" from RO, but I guess you're playing a private server WHICH DOES NOT COUNT AS RO, sorry. Heck RO is so retarded... you can spam dead branches/bloody branches and summon a ton of hard monsters/bosses on low level maps just to screw over everyone, especially new players and grief them as much as you want. Then when someone says no, that's wrong, they reply "well it's fun to grief you and I have a right to have fun so get over it" and the GMs support that, saying "We like a feeling of chaos." Sorry, RO fails in every aspect.

Actually SoC, I don't know if this is the WoW fanboy or the voice of cold turkey, but WoW was able to draw me in for 4 years before I stopped, and the only reason I stopped playing was because I didn't play as much as I used to because of school and didn't feel like getting swamped and behind when college started.

In honesty though, it depends on the company. I never even heard of OGP before I started playing LT, and I don't play any of their other games besides LT so I don't know how well they play. But with Blizzard, I played all the way from the first Warcraft onward and have played just about all their games except for Starcraft 2.

If the company has the staff and the community to support it, an MMO can become a juggernaut. Blizzard has been the only company I know that has been able to do this, since they have hardcore devotees.

Personally, I find companies that say that they made "the WoW killer" make me laugh. WoW is a freakin' juggernaut behemoth in the MMO market, if you can really kill/compete with WoW in rankings consistently, and not within the first month with all the hype, you sir have created an MMO that is worth playing.

Well WoW is WoW. A lot of people that aren't playing WoW, aren't playing WoW because they don't like it or just because they don't want to play it. Very very very small percentage of all MMORPG players that don't actively play WoW, still already know about WoW and what it has to offer. It's just not for them. Basically almost every MMOer knows about WoW, and anyone who's not playing it has their reasons.

Blizzard has the money and understands that constant effort to never be satisfied with what is, but to never fix what's not broken, is the key to MMO success. It also advertises it self; which is the -biggest- reason why Blizzard/WoW is so successful, and why other companies have such a hard time surviving. I don't think any one would argue that advertising plays a key role in MMO success.

Yeah "WoW killer" is just a joke now. I think the only thing that can kill WoW now is itself, no other MMO will "take it over," until WoW it self dies. Even during decline, people will still flock to WoW for years simply because it's WoW.

I disagree with the last statement, though. Just because you're not constantly in the same "rankings" as WoW doesn't mean it's not worth playing. La Tale, FFXI, Wonder King, Maple Story... they all prove this.

I know that, host wise, MMOs have been getting a raw deal as of late, but the players, to me at least, haven't changed all that much. Of course, I started with Gunbound and Maple, so I probably just got "lucky" and ran into the cream of the crop early.

It was not a Private Server, it was the Real RO when I came across the incident. Something about some prick group going into the sewers and killing everything under the sun in the popular areas. It was a few years ago so things most likely changed over time. Then again, it could easily have been a GM was in a sour mood and just wanted to make somebody suffer.

As for Primes, I never understood the big deal of people using them. Only actual change I noticed out of that is some stupid barrier between post 80 players that got to their level using them and the ones that don't. Me being on both sides of the argument (some are at their level with primes, others without) makes want to smack them all. PvP I essentially avoided like the plague since it was introduced, so I can't really say much about it.
