How Long Does it Friggin' Take to Get One Danged Character?! (GrandChase)
Posted 03-20-2010 at 06:59 PM by TheHYBIRD
So, with my hiatus from LaTale, I starting jumping around in old games I haven't played in some time. The one I paid most attention to as of late was Grand Chase. Previously, I did not care for the game's combat system, it felt too simplistic, yet it took far too long to get anywhere.
Now that I returned, it's become a fairly amusing game. PvP sucks, can't even get in a game to do these stupid PvP quest (Getting Ryan with GP Quest Scroll would be flat out impossible for me.) And the battle system still has some flaws that makes it hard to string out some good combos and such, however, from the time I last played, the game definitely felt as if there was a good chunk of improvements.
But, the real reason I came back wasn't even because I was sick of dealing with LaTale players, I've grown a certain interest with one character on GC that tempts me to play.
Jin
Something about the character design in itself makes Jin an interesting character to me. But I got a few quick peeks of his fighting as well, but of course, one can't pass judgment on a game, nor game's characters without trying them out themselves. Needless to say, the character really has me trying to earn him.
So far, my quest to earn Jin has gone smoothly, I demolished both required Champion maps without help. Quite honestly, I would have thought that was the hard part. How humorous when I found out how wrong I was. I still need to earn the boss monster items drops from either 3 star maps, and I've done BOTH at least 50 blasted times each, over half of those runs were perfects, while the rest were 4 stars (Aside from 3-4 goods... Stupid Fairy.)
I ONLY GOT ONE DANGED LOG!
One! Just one! Are you kidding me? How long does it frickin' take to earn one blasted character in this game?!

Well, if you're going for Jin, it's worth the long strung out misfortunes of no Logs or Powders (unless you really that unlucky). Some notable things about him are his dodging abilities and his Chi abilities that add versatility to his fighting style. Even his skills somewhat alternate if you have enough Chi to unleash it. If you become skilled enough, you might be able to solo with him better than any other character in the game (well, maybe except Arme).
But I feel your pain. When it comes to acquiring new characters (except Ronan or Lass, the 'nub' or overused characters in the game) it's a long slog, but with Jin it was so worth it. Keep trying, dude.Posted 03-20-2010 at 10:31 PM by Marzai

@ Griever: Tried Lunia a while ago. It was OK, but I didn't care much for the game's system outside battle, felt... clunky to me for some odd reason. Plus, I played Survival Project long before Lunia, so I had my taste of that style of gameplay already.
@ Cromeheart: You're just making me want the character that much more! Stop! The temptation is too much for me to handle!
And I am NOT looking forward to collecting the Fairy Dust... I hate that overgrown teleporting moth. It's like fighting a Butterfree on LSD sometimes, I swear...Posted 03-21-2010 at 01:24 AM by TheHYBIRD
