Kuroshitsuji Episode 10

It's shorter this time! Woo!

This episode starts off with some burglar guy running away from his gang after stealing an important ring, and then having his hand unceremoniously sliced off by a circus dude and thrown off into the river. Yep, nothing new.

He won't be coming to any of my birthday parties, that's for sure.

The Frost Fair is in town, and it's only proper for Sebastian and Ciel to go and check it out. While they're walking around the market, we see Lizzie and her maidservant (lovechild of Orihime and Mikuru amirite) somewhere else browsing the markets for a suitable present for Ciel's birthday. How sweet.

After a bit more walking, Ciel & co. are confronted by Aberline, an investigator from the folks at Scotland Yard. They are informed about the stolen ring and the dead man who stole it over a nice hot cup of tea in Lau's portable restaurant. Coincidentally, the stolen ring has the exact same stone (called the Shard of Hope) as Ciel's family ring embedded into its core. Lau then joins the conversation by adding that the ring, despite bringing misfortune and destruction to those who have it in their possession, is irresistible to everyone. Too bad the man's just bullshitting again. Damn, I love Lau.

After properly learning about the situation, Lau joins in with the gang and Aberline leads them to the Undertaker's portable shop. It looks exactly the same as the one he has on mainland. Lol. The Undertaker dies of laughter from Aberline's unknown joke and permits them information regarding the whereabouts of the missing ring. He shows them an ice statue with the ring on the statue's finger. Apparently someone had carved it out from the ice and made it part of their ice sculpture.

Aberline's attempt to recover the ring is interrupted by a few judges of the ice sculpting contest. Coincidentally, we (and Ciel) meet a familiar face amongst these judges.

The pedophile returns, looking FABULOUS as always.

The judges tell Ciel & co. that the only way they can have the ice statue was if they entered the ice sculpting contest and won. Ciel, always the competition-monger that he is, sends in Sebastian to win the contest and the ice statue. Sebastian obliges and goes godmode on the ice block. Also, the gang who originally tried to steal the ring participates in the contest in order to have the ring back in their possession.

Once the competition ends, each team presents their ice sculpture. Aberline and his Scotland Yard buddies present a boring statue of their head-in-command, Lau and Ranmao present something NSFW, and Sebastian presents an ice redition of Noah's Ark, complete with animals and the like inside the boat. How fabulous.

And with that, Sebastian wins one for the team.

Of course, the gang who aimed to steal the ring back were sore losers, so they tried to take it back by bombing the whole ice rink and wildly throwing dynamite at Ciel & co.

Ciel says 'whatever' and sends off Sebastian to get rid of the idiots. Before Ciel plunges underwater due to the shattered ice, he is rescued by Sebastian, who is now wearing ice skates and has just executed a fabulous triple-spin that earned the admiration from all of the judges. Viscount Druitt (the pedophile judge) remarks that the Sebastian's abilities on ice remind him of a certain loli whom he met at a certain party, making a certain shouta cringe.

Extreme figure skating, couples edition.

After the whole ice rink collapses underwater, Sebastian and Ciel make it out alive by standing in their ice boat that Sebastian carved. The boat wins things AND keeps you alive. Awesome.

Unfortunately, the prized ice statue and its ring fall into the Thames, so no one wins and no one loses. Ciel shows great sportsmanship by not forcing Sebastian to go into the river and fetch the ring back. What a guy.

Afterwards, we have a scene change to Lizzie and her maid, in which we see Lizzie bawwing about how the present she bought for Ciel is a fake and now she will be hated by him forever. However, her sobbing stops when she spots a certain ring inside the broken toy boat. The episode ends with the reintroduction of the circus dude and his comment about how the ring will find its master on its own.

Some new plot is introduced in this episode, albeit a filler one. However, I think this new arc will be pretty interesting. Watch it for introductory purposes to the new arc, but don't watch it if you don't like fillers and you want something that's manga-related. Imo, 2 second trap!Ciel cameo was the difference between a 6 and an 8 for my rating.

Episode Rating: 8/10

Nice review. ^__^. BTW, in future, to remedy the "problem", log into the Anime Mmog, and approve your own post. This is the temporary measure I can think of at the moment.

    nice review.
this episode was pretty hilarious if i may say so. one of my favs so far even if its a filler.(although i dont quite consider it as such)

Viscount Druitt reappearance was a nice surprise. and if his apearences will bring more random shoots of a certen loli, then by all means they better make him a main character xD

and what we've learned from this episode:
    Sebastian/Ciel = Noah/wifu. true fact!

  4. Oh, this is a pretty amusing review~ Your captions are hilarious! XD I think the length is just nice this time too :D

Lau, oh Lau~ *hearts* And gods, I wish the Undertaker would appear more frequent. HE'S AWESOME. I'M JUST NOT SURE WHY.

And the Sebastian/Ciel? Is definitely getting thicker and thicker with each passing episode~
