Last night I was up all night trying to make a launch deadline at work. We made it with about an hour to spare and my boss let me take the afternoon off. I went home and crashed; about 15 minutes after I got in bed, I heard my door open and Bob came in. She crawled in bed too and we took a nap. I was so exhausted and the nap wasn’t all the sleep I needed, but at least I wasn’t the walking dead anymore. We went to eat sushi after and I went home and crashed.

Today I overslept...

Ok, so I went to fix a database issue last night on the server and I thought it would be a quick fix – just update the MySQL version. Oh boy was I wrong. I used the package management tool to do it – forgetting that I had installed the packages manually before. It actually downgraded the database server and all hell broke loose. The next two hours were spend trying to undo what I had done amidst a flood of angry users and automated database error emails. Non-geeky content to follow ->...

Shokotan Stalki… err Anime Expo Day 4 (w/ Pictures =D)

We woke up like 30 minutes late because we were out at IHOP until like 3 AM the day before. Ken had been waiting in line for a few hours to get tickets for the Shokotan signing so we had to join him. When we got there, the security guard told him that we couldn’t come in with him because only he had been waiting. So, we had to enact plan B.

What was Plan B? Exhibitor badges. We had acquired 2 exhibitor badges so we used them to slip into the Dealer’s Hall 10 minutes early. Once...

Anime Expo 2008 Day 3 (even more pictures!)

We decided to get some glow sticks before the Shokotan concert and it ended up making us late, heh. We only missed one song, however, and when we walked back into the Nokia theater we were met with Shokotan singing “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” – cosplaying Rei Ayanami! The concert was awesome – she had the best crowd of anyone as everyone was on their feet cheering the entire time. She premiered a new song for the Gurren Lagen movie – cosplaying as Yoko! Definitely worth every minute of it.

Staying out until 2 the night before made none of us wake up in time heh. We had to pick up another friend of Leara’s, Lou, on the way to AX and then try and get there in time for the Jyukai concert. Luckily, our source had us hooked up again and we didn’t have to wait in line. We went shopping again before the concert and I picked up a few more figures to complete the main 3 I wanted from the 1/4 Haruhi set. I’m going to try and pick up the other 2 on discount tomorrow since they weren’t selling...
