My Great Grandfather is Dying

Posted 06-12-2013 at 10:35 AM by Light
My wound has sealed up a few weeks ago and yet I find out that I'm unable to work for the company because they're so slowed down with work that they don't require my services until things pick up, but if they continue slowing down then I will be laid off due to the company's death.

But that's not the only thing that's dying, I found out today that my great grandfather who has cheated death a lot of times with his stubborn ways is finally reaching his limits as his heart is starting to fail and this time it's likely going to fail completely.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't travel to see a dying relative, not because I'm a heartless bastard but because I don't need to travel to mourn the loss of a loved one, especially when those around me do nothing but mourn and cry for days or weeks which makes the atmosphere too depressing to deal with.

But because he's still alive and I haven't traveled back home in almost 10 years, I'll hopefully be able to say goodbye before he dies and attempt to comfort my great grandmother and grandparents as they go through this, as I made a promise to see them at least once before the end arrives.

I'll not be mourning his death as much as the others as he lived a long joyful life reaching the age of 90.
If anything his long life should be celebrated as not many people can say their relatives lived to enjoy life for that long, especially since many don't even get to meet their great grandparents when they grow up as they've already passed on before or shortly after their birth.

My grandmother is preparing the tickets and if approved I'll be leaving on June 19th until June 28th.

Lastly if there's one thing I won't forget it's how he always put a smile on my face as a child or even as a teenager, I will miss him.

Really sorry to hear that Light, I'm sure he'll be delighted to see you, and appreciate it greatly. As you know, there is no escaping death, but family can (literally) make somebody's life happier and better.

    Hope everything goes well!

Oh my gosh.. :( I'm so sorry! He's very lucky to have such an amazing great grandson, though.
