Making Some Trickster Changes
Posted 12-11-2010 at 04:12 PM by Hekutaa
Over the past week, I have decided to make a new character on the world of Trickster Online. Primarily, I created a spreadsheet of myshop items I must purchase to make my Lion more of an attack powerhouse. Subsequently, with all of costs, it tallies up to... $100. That is very expensive to someone without a job, so I will rely upon "free" surveys at Peanut Labs and Playspan to get me through the money gap while keeping my computer cookie, spy-ware, and virus-free. Granted, that will bring up my lost damage to my idiotic choice I made in building my character, and hopefully, all of this will make a character more of an overall attacking unit thanks to the redistribution to a plethora of things.
That aside, I decided to do some damage formulas to test out my damage with my character (a lion). I compared them to another character (a buffalo) and lo, I found that buffaloes deal a very high level of damage at a later level than a lion. Granted, I did not calculate several aspects (like Critical Hits, resistances, weaknesses, etc.) but I found a lot of things that a buffalo can trounce a lion at.
Now here's where I raged. I calculated the projected damage of power shot (Lion skill) compared to quad punch.
Power shot damage
Pretty fantastic damage, right? That's quite extraordinary for a lion to hit that hit that huge, but I sort of cheated with a lot my my shop and theoretical AC I might have.
Now, let's have a look a Tetra punch!
Yeah, albeit Tetra Punch makes it out stronger than Power Shot by ONLY 9 DAMAGE.
But here's where it boils down: to preference and cost-effectiveness.
Personally, I like fighting long-range and having a plethora of de-buffs (hence my original choice to play a sense-type), yet I like having a large amount of area of effect skills at my disposal, along with a large amount of close-range skills to trounce any opponent in my path. Granted, both classes (A Cyber Hunter and a Mercenary) have what I want, which is good.
Now the great schism: money. In retrospect, I had almost no clue about damage formulas and played the game carelessly back in 8th grade. Now, with my more rational, mathematical, (and subsequent greater ability to rant)skills, I found out that the way I "built" my DA-based lion perhaps led to my horrid downfall. Like what I iterated, I have to purchase an estimate of $100 to fully get my character back into the "slew of strength," thereby giving myself a significantly easier time to annihilate boss monsters, rid of mobs effortlessly, and have a slew of de-buffs to mow down anything in my sight. Looking on this, I think I might be better off making a new character and getting it over with. However, I will still keep my lion, mainly be cause he hit a high enough level to start taking down some of the harder bosses with some rare items. (Mainly Tombeth and Capt. Skull) Furthermore, because I somewhat mindlessly built my character in DA, I can drill like a god. Yup, no more "wasted" drills thanks to this (in actuality, anyone can hit this with 90+ DA)
Now comes to why I ranted about this: Should I continue playing with my Lion, or should I play with a Buffalo?
Also, if you wondered why I did not place this into the Trickster forums like a normal person, I made a blog post out of my predilection to hyper-extend my rants. That, and transcendentalism happened.

Power shot damage
Code:
Let AC=270 Let Gun AP=590 Let M=2.7 [(gAP-11) + 20(AC-48)]M [(590-11) + 20 (270-48)]2.7 Power shot damage = 13,551
Now, let's have a look a Tetra punch!
Code:
Let AP=1400 Let B= 20.4 Let Enemy Defense = 1,000 AP × (B) - Target Def. × 15 1,400 x (20.4) - 1000 x 15 28560 - 15000 Total Tetra Punch Damage = 13,560

If you have an extra slot on your main account, I'd say start a Mercenary. You get exactly as you described:
Lions are much more difficult to train now (thanks to Revo destroying SF3) and require much more "investment" to become even moderately strong, while you can get that with a Mercenary right off the back. Also, you get very useful debuffs like Shockvibe/Luck Breaker/Sense Breaker, AoEs including Earthquake Blade/Tidal Splash/Inferno BladeQuote:Personally, I like fighting long-range and having a plethora of de-buffs (hence my original choice to play a sense-type), yet I like having a large amount of area of effect skills at my disposal, along with a large amount of close-range skills to trounce any opponent in my path. /Tempest Strike/Blazing Strike, somewhat long-range action with Piercing Wave, and not to mention close-range with Berserker/Tetra Punch.
It's also not very expensive to fund a mercenary (you don't really need any MyShop assuming you can afford a Golden Sword and Golden Shield comped with their respective attributes).Quote:But here's where it boils down: to preference and cost-effectiveness.
You can use the boss uniques you obtain from Tombeth/Skull to increase your damage output with your AoE skills Tempest Strike/Tidal Slash (thus making bossing more worthwhile, since besides Karan/boss accessories/unique helmets for AC & LK, gunners have no use for boss equips).Quote:Looking on this, I think I might be better off making a new character and getting it over with. So I guess it all boils down mainly to preference.Posted 12-16-2010 at 11:22 PM by Hykari
