So yeah, 28th september I had my first lesson in how to make a game. However, that time was mearly an introduction and giving you an idea on how you can make a game. But, that didn't mean that we didn't get nothing to do. Nope, we got the mission on making a board game. We got to leads. 1. Tenderness 2. Pacman.
Basicly, the leader gave us one word, Tenderness, that we were going to work many different words and things out of it. Ex. We had 5 min on us to write stuff that you feel when something is Tender. Then we were going to write material that has to do with tenderness in 5 min. After that, We were going to write stuff that "works against" tenderness. After that we would choose three words in each category that we had written down and make a game out of those.
The pacman lead... Well, she mearly told us to keep pacmans game concept in mind while making it.
After a few hours of discussing, drawing ect. We had a concept about a game. It somehow became a game about babies. Basicly, you play as a baby who needs to to sleep, but need 5 different things before it can go to sleep. You're suppost to crawl around the house to find these things, but you had to watch out for some things like knifes, dogs, toilet brushes ect. If you managed to get to a knife you'll lose one of your found stuff. However, if you have a hug-card(Which you get if you bump into another baby and hug it.), you'll go safe out of the situation.
I won't go into much more details... We came up with alot of stuff... <_>
At the 29th September we got to the basics on how to make a game. We had a long time on us to think up a concept, a story, characters, a goal ect. I came up with my idea a few days before I went to that class, so I wrote down the story of it, the basic goal, drew how the main character would look like, an example on monsters and a boss ect.
I won't tell you about it because I like keep thing I do a secret, But I can say that it's about Princesses and Magicans.
While I was drawing and writing about my idea, several people praised me for drawing so good. I was probably beat red in the face by then. I was really flattered, but oh so embarrassed.
After a while we were suppost to present our ideas, give a small idea on how it is, show our characters and so on. Everyone had great ideas and presented them very well~ I hoped that people
And then came my turn. And I screwed up...
I stuttered and didn't speak high enough. I hid my face in my hands several times. The leader even asked me if it was uncomfortable. One of the guys who sat in the same table eventually said that "Well, you drew many nice pictures about it, right?" and the leader then told me to show it for everyone. So I lifted up the big paper I had worked on and showed a small conversation between the main character and a boss. I told a little about it(Still in a small voice.) They laughed a little when I told them what they were talking about. (The boss was complaining on the main character on how the main character was late. The boss had hoped for that they could take a cup of tea and maybe chat a little before the fight.)
I eventually became all quiet and recived applauds. I just hid myself in my hands again.
I really really really hate sharing my ideas and thoughts to other people, I guess I'm half afraid that someone'll think it's just plain dumb. But, that's the way I am...
After everyone had presented all their stuff the leader said good bye and said that a guy who makes indie games will take over.
The guy told us that next week we will start work on our ideas and make a game out of it. He also gave us a few tips and things we should think of before doing a game. The guy is apparently an experienced Indie maker(Who calls himself Nifflas), he made a game called "Knytt Stories". Search a little bit on google and you might find it.
So yeah, on 7th october I will start making my own game. Woopie~!
Hopefully something good will come out of my idea~ <:
