X of the Day III: Back by Popular Request

.... It's Freyalise's 'I AM SO LAZY' Recipe Corner!

Today's recipe of sorts comes with a story, partially because it would be a little short other wise (It probably will be a little short anyway, but eh).

So, anyway! In the wild, heady days of my youth, I was a member of something called the NJCL (National Junior Classical League, aka nerd club for Latin students). Every year, those of us who were members would get a day off school (and the two days after that) to go to our state convention, where we...mostly took tests and listened to lectures. It still beat a day at school, though. Seriously.

Anyway, since this was a strictly pay your own way sort of deal, people would often bring their own snacks (the alternatives were overpriced pizza and overpriced hotel food). Those with a bit of ingenuity could also make full meals - for example, with this trick here:

COOKING GRILLED CHEESE IN A HOTEL ROOM:
You will need:

Bread
Cheese
Heavy aluminum foil (or double layers of regular aluminum foil - DO NOT BE DUMB AND USE NOTHING/PAPER PLATES. It's not pretty.)
An iron

Heat iron to cotton or linen setting. Turn off steam.
Place bread on foil and top with desired filling. Cover with remaining slice of bread. Cover sandwich with another sheet of aluminum foil. Fold foil to seal edges.
Press iron on surface of foil-covered packet, passing iron over entire area for about 30 seconds. Carefully turn entire packet over and iron again for about 30 seconds, taking care not to tear the foil. Unwrap an edge and check for doneness. If contents are not hot or cheese is not melted, rewrap the foil and repeat the ironing.

OM NOM NOM.

If you do it right. Otherwise, you'll either be picking cheese out of your iron or have a fire on your hands.

    I WILL ACTUALLY TRY THIS.

I hate making grilled cheese on the stove because of my fear of burning oil. :x
