Death of a friend

Posted 10-31-2009 at 04:42 AM by Ethane
Just about most of us have our pack of friends. I'd like to think that as nerdy as /ggFTW gets, that you have friends and folks you can relate to.

I've had to rethink things over the years, especially lately. When it comes to /ggFTW, I got my random crew I really like. Some of them make me laugh heartily. When it comes to random, I want to make sure everyone who decides to play there has a fair shake. I don't want Random to be High School where King Shit gets carte blanche and do...

Posted 10-27-2009 at 05:10 AM by Ethane
I'm no fan of arbitrarily labeling people, and by that I mean completely obvious characteristics. Now descriptive and pertinent labels I like. If a person is a saint, a samaritan, a smartass or just a complete idiot, I'd like to know. This lets me know if I ever want to deal with this person or not. Subjective, sure, but for the most part it works -- if everyone says that a certain person a complete basket case or an ambulatory drama station on two legs, I will do my best to avoid them. ...

The other day I came across this blog entry - http://ggftw.com/forum/blogs/soc/174...godhaters.html - which is a pretty fair rant and assessment about an ever-growing annoyance on the internet.

There's two types of atheists: the regular every day adult atheist who manages to be well-adjusted in society (think Penn and Teller), and then there's the internet atheist. The internet atheist is nothing like the former, he or she instead prefers to evangelize...

Fitting explained for the new guys Part 1

Fitting Explained Part 1: Choosing your Modules

When I first got into Eve, I had no damn clue on what to do with my ship once I bought it. I didn't think to pay attention to the ship's intended armaments, its bonuses, and so on. Before I wised up, I actually tried to fly a shield and armor-tanked Caracal into nullsec. I didn't last long, if that comes at any surprise.

Some players who've been with the game for a good amount of time still fit their ships with the most...

Ship types explained, Part 1

Posted 06-30-2009 at 04:19 AM by Ethane

This is a quick, informative rundown of what ship types are available in Eve, with my own bias thrown in for good measure. From this you can hopefully get some idea of where your training path will take you, by researching further on your own - if you're familiar with Eve you know this rundown is certainly not comprehensive in the least.

In part 1, we'll cover shuttles to Cruisers.

Shuttles

Shuttles are super cheap transports for a tiny amount of cargo...
