a clown fishie died ;o;

His mated pair chased him around the tank until he died. My poor cutie ;_;
Our snails made snail babies and there's little snails zooming about.
To replace our clown we got a purple tang (the same family as Dory, she's called a hippo tang) and he flaps his fins and he's so kawaii.
Nemo makes no sense biologically speaking wise as clown fish only grow to about 3-4 inches, whereas full grown tangs can get up to 10-11" in size. Considering both um Dad fish (;_;) and Dory were full grown it makes no sense wat.
my mom tells me I should be a marine biologist.
also our sea urchin WRECKS EVERYTHING IN IT'S PATH.

Clown Fish can be really hard to properly take care of, and they tend to be really stubborn. Sorry to hear that s/he died, how big is your tank if I may ask?

We take care of everything fine, we have a pink goniopora and everything else in the take is doing great. Fish are the easy part to take care of in a reef tank, it's the vegetation life that's difficult.
We have the correct inches of fish for our tank. We spoke to our fish guy and pure percula clowns tend to be really agressive. The clowns were a mated pair that were born together and kept together, they were never wild.
Everything that should be doing awful is doing great. We already discussed with the guy we go to for fish - he hears often of true percula clowns harassing one another to death.
This isn't our first tank.
They were growing up and fighting for female dominance, they've already done some mating rituals (their swimming dance around each other, rubbing and vibrating, etc), but the larger one (the one likely to become the dominant female) chased the other one around until he was exhausted and died. He was swimming fine in the morning and when we got home he was dead. Because they were mated, though, the fish guy thinks it was probably an accident, which is why the other clown is being emo. It was a lot stronger though, but when their mated they want to reproduce.
Again, he said it's really common for true percula (we have black onyx true percula, the clown fish like Nemo are false percula) to be really aggressive.
I don't appreciate being told we 'did it wrong' when the professional who does this for a living is saying it sounds like we have one of the better kept tanks. We monitor pH, calcium levels, etc diligently and we change the water when needed.Posted 11-10-2012 at 07:36 AM by Dare

I didn't say you did it wrong, I just said they can be hard to take care of (as for the 'properly' part, I was just speaking in general, sorry if you took it the wrong way). o_0

@Janna: ;0; We've had the tank for a good 4 months now, so we've had everything for 3. Like I said, it's more likely for the soft corals/anemones/etc to die than a fish, which is why we're really sure it's unnatural causes :l We have a bicolor angle, purple tang, snowflake blenny, six-lined wrasse, and now one black onyx true percula ;0;
@Christy: IT DIED WHILE I WASN'T HOME I FEAR MY DAD FLUSHED HIM Q_______________________Qq
