This game I've been working on

So there's a game that I've been "working on" since about the end-ish of 9th grade. "Working on" is in quotes because up until recently I hardly did anything with it other than pile up concepts and try (and fail) to use Game Maker. But recently, I decided that Game Maker sucks and that I'd be better off using some other game-creation solution or just stop being lazy and code it myself. I then discovered Construct and decided to continue being lazy. Except then I actually started working on the game, and now I've got something to show for it that I'm actually satisfied with.

I finished up a preview of sorts of the game's engine (basically just something to show off the movement...ness of it) and posted it over at Tumblr. However, I can't really trust my own judgement too much, so I'd love to have some sort of feedback on how this thing works so far. If you feel like trying it out, you're a cool person. And if you don't feel like trying it out... you're probably still a cool person. Just... a cool person who doesn't want to try out the preview-thing.

    ;_; this reminds me of my poor project abandoned to the winds (until danmakufu updates/the other touhou shump engine gets finished, AKA NEVER)

    I'll actually play with this more before I post any comments first though.

    okay stuffs:
    the movement threw me off at first (i'm used to DOUBLE TAP TO RUN or sonic style) but I think it's okay now(?).
    the red really hurts my eyes, lol

    Ohhh, incidently, I'm also making a game (Okay, more like mod, but still new in terms of gameplay) =DDD Except it's going to take a while before it's ready for public viewing;;;

    The movement is solid. The sprites seem to flow quite well, but I think the crouch can do better and so can the character falling (Where did the long hair come from? D: Isn't his hair spiked?). It's more like the legs became short 8D; The red background is hurting a bit in my eyes though, Nii nii. But the floor looks very cute. XDDD

  3. ^The hair comment made me lol.

    But yeah, I agree with what they said. The controls are easy to get used to, which is nice, and the character moves pretty smoothly. I liked the differentiation between the thick and thin platforms too. The only noticeable bad thing for me was the bright red background. It starts to hurt after a little while. ;_;

    Otherwise, I thought it was a good preview. Keep it up. :3
