Prompt: Sunset
Title: Forsaken
Fandom: Original
Genre: Adventure/Humor, I guess
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A boy is lost in the desert.
Author’s Note: God, this has nothing to do with sunsets. At least is has a sunset in it. Whatever. Maybe I'll write a continuation of this.

”Look to the left.” See some sand dunes.
”Look to the right.” See sand dunes again.
”Look behind you.” See even more sand dunes.
”Look in front of you.” Still seeing sand dunes.

The sun beat down on the wanderer as he traversed the great desert. He had been traveling for what felt like a weeks, desperately trying to find some sign of civilization. Truly, he was forsaken.

Seemingly out of nowhere, he saw a figure rise up in the horizon. It was difficult to identify, the vapor from the ground rising up could have created any sort of mirage. He could be seeing things. He rubbed his eyes in denial. Yet, the figure was still there, drawing closer.

He paused a moment, then continued making his way toward the figure in the distance. As he got closer, he saw an old man riding on camelback. The old man had a great robe over him. The heat must have been intense for him under that thick cloth.

The old man approached him. Apparently, he had spotted the youth in the distance as well. He greeted the boy. ”Shay, shonny. You’re lookin’ ah little losht,” he tooted cheerfully.

The youth collapsed onto the sand on his knees and started begging. ”Water,” he choked, ”I need water!”

The geezer pulled a strap up over his head and tossed the youth a canteen. The thirsty teen chugged without delay. He felt a burning sensation in his throat and choked on the contents in the canteen.

”What the hell is this crap?!” spattered the boy.

”Ah, me good ol’ vodka, kid,” grinned the old man, satisfied with himself.

”Vodka?! You gave me vodka?! I need water! Are you trying to kill me, you old geezer?” The teen was snarling at the old man like a rabid canine, with a wild look in his eyes.

”Hehehaaaa! Good one, kid,” laughed the old man. His exposed, golden teeth glistened in the sun. ”How ’bout we take ya home now, ya hear? Yer mother ish worried shick ’bout ya.” With that, he pulled out a poster with the youth’s mugshot on it. ”Mishsin’ fer a week! Yikesh! That reward money is gonna be great too! More vodka! More virgins! More gamblin’! Yeehawww!”

The old geezer lifted the teen up onto the camel and they began their voyage home. He lit up his cigarette to enjoy for the ride home. ”You’re hopeless, geezer,” the boy said. The sun began to slowly dip into the horizon, setting the sky on fire. He laid back on the camel. ”I’m finally going home,” he thought.
