i met a really interesting couple during my stay at sacramento. one was hard of hearing, and his boyfriend was his interpreter. i only knew a tiny bit to fingerspell my name and for short phrases (like "how are you" and "i'm from the south"), but it was very interesting to watch him use ASL. it's a bit similar to my native language, vietnamese, in forming sentences -- there aren't conjugations for different modes (like subjunctive) or tenses (past/perfect/future/imperfect/perfect)....

… I was walking out of my workshop after cleaning up and when I got outside, I turned a corner. The first thing I see is a guy peeing on the side of the building. He seemed startled, since after I turned the corner he kinda jumped and ended up tripping or something and falling on his side while he was peeing. Luckily it didn’t get me.
