Default Flat Irons

Eventually I want to invest in a higher end flat iron since I typically straighten my hair a ton and I have no idea what to even think about buying. I've been using a $30 wet to straight iron for like 6 years now :| What do you guys use and/or recommend that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg?

Also do higher end straighteners make your hair look sleeker/shinier/better? Are expensive flat irons really worth the investment?

I feel like a dork asking

What I use. o: It works nice, and straightens pretty fast. I use a heat protection product on my hair before I use it, I don't really use anything that's for straightening, and it turns out nice every time.

Works amazing. Can be used to curl hair. Using heat protection and leave in conditioner products is a must.

Not sure if you are still looking for suggestions but I'll post one anyway. I use Remington S9500 Pearl. It's the best straightener I have ever had in my life. I straighten my hair every day because I don't like my curly, frizzy, half jamaican hair ><. It heats up SO quickly, takes seconds and it also lets you know with a beep sound when it's ready to use. I love the bag that comes with it, I always use it to put my straightener down on when I'm combing and styling in between. It's a bad boy. Cost me 166 USD at the time, but I live in Iceland so it's much more expensive here than in the US.

Well, thanks everyone for your replies, but I've pretty much decided on a Solia. I'll probably update this thread whenever I decide to actually purchase a new flat iron.

Welp, if anyone was wondering, I went ahead and ordered this. I got it on sale for $64 and it came a few days ago. It's ok, I guess. Trying to curl my hair with a flat iron at first was the most frustrating thing.

I'm not sure what exactly I expected, but it is ok at straightening hair. I feel there's not really a difference between my ~6 year old Wet2Straight (lol) one.

but for curling, it's great. A hell of a lot faster than a curling iron could do, for sure. I'm not sure I'd purchase any more high end hair tools, though.

Wet2Straight?

I hope that doesn't imply you're using it on wet hair.
