The year is 1925, and situated on the Pearl River delta sits Hong Kong, an economic haven under Englsh rule. The English and Chinese live largely seperate lives in the area. The English run the government, large enterpise and trade while the chinese locals provide the hard labor. Some do manage to work their way up the British heirachy set against them but even the majority who don't are satisfied to escape the hunger and suffering on the mainland.
Enter Guru Li Chao (Chao Li), a chinese noble who has gained the odd title after expereincing enlightenment in India and the Himaleyas. Since his fateful journey he has acquired the abiities to intefere with the divine destiny as already inscribed by the Jade Emperor's will. People flock from all over asia in pursuit of the Guru's favor but of course the price of his services are no trifle.
Do you dare tell him your wish? If you could have your greatest wish fulfilled at what lengths would you go to obtain it?

Hello everyone. Welcome to my second shot at this. Dani promised to play security guard so this is a joint effort. I hope you all give it a chance.
This is in the same universe as Dani's other rps. It won't tie in with the others plot wise but it's the same world with the same rules. That said: enjoy!
Character creation guide:

Anything goes as far as character creation. Chinese fisherman, English bureaucrat, Christian missionary, Japanese Yokai many miles from home, reincarnation of Gangkhis Kahn? Whatever you want go for it. Only thing is that they MUST be on Hong Kong island by the start of the rp.
This will be have adventure and action but nothing too over the top. Unless you guys want that... do you want that?
Guru Chao Li - A person who is enlightened to the point of being able to rearrange one's destiny for a favor. He looks a bit strange and wears a golden changshan, a white turban with jewels adorning it and is always scene with an ivory colored engraved opium pipe in his hand. He has an otherworldly aura to him. His quarters is in an upper room in Wanchai.
Yuan Mingmei - A girl who even in the early mornings was seen peddling steamed buns... that is until one day when she out of nowhere married the rich Minister Lau.
Su Wei - Leader of a newly formed and large gambling circle. He does whatever it takes to remain on top and is not the type of guy you want to get involved with. He has a dark and menacing presence. Rumor is he killed an Englishman over a dollar.
Han Jingwei - A young girl who roams the city with a somber expression. She has an aversion to the sea and obviously hates it. She can be a bit shy and reserved and has no known family.
Mr. Ling - A barber with a habit of streaking, baggy pants and an uncanny amount of common sense. He has a wit so sharp anything he says to you has twice the potency of a normal insult. He also likes dumplings.
Alfred Witherman - An English supervisor of the dockwork down in Aberdeen. If you need any quick work and some honest money he's the man to go to.
Miss Rebecca Rosewater - A young English nobless with an unheathy facination with the locals. She lives in a nice mansion in Victoria City but is often seen creeping around the other sectors of Hong Kong.

Victoria: The district occupied by mostly English. It is the center of the government and businesses as well.
Wan Chai: A district occupied by lower class Chinese and riddled by some unsavory sights such as red light district and gambling
Queen Street: A heavily trafficked area where many Chinese and English business thrive. The people seem to get along well enough on the surface though there's self segregation.
Aberdeen: The pier/port area of the island. Mostly Chinese working as fisherman and dock hands venture here.
