Default flick3ring (no pun intended)

ok maybe a little bit intended.

As of late, whenever I close my Atlantica, my screen goes berserk. I have severe flickering until I restart my computer. It never used to give me this problem. I haven't recently changed my monitor settings... Any ideas why?

Not sure why but on a related note, whenever i close AO, it actually doesn't close. I have to kill the process in the task manager. If i don't, memory use will go up past 1gb, then eventually it will crash THEN close. This only started happening since the last major patch.

I think everyone here can agree that with each major patch, the game gets more and more unstable.

Yeah, I get that same issue too.

But in terms of flick's issue, I got no answer. Maybe bother the hell out of technical support.

Flick's issue is symptom of older vidcard. Are you using anything even remotely modern? (ie at least Geforce 6xxx or higher?). Contrary to popular belief also, the latest vidcard drivers are NOT always the best for older cards. The 'best' driver for a vidcard is always the last driver BEFORE the card was superceded.

Test something for me, just humor me here... Instead of actually quitting Atlantica the normal way, what happens if you just kill the process through Task Manager? Does it still flicker like hell then? If the answer is no then the problem is with the game and it's ever-increasing instability. If the answer is yes then it's possibly something on your system.

I can vouch for this, I used to get loads of bluescreens in the past on my desktop, and I did what Kyo suggested and got myself older drivers after formatting my comp and I was bluescreen-free for a long time.

hm maybe my graphics card is old. I'm playing on a bit of a powerhouse laptop... well, it was about 1 - 2 years ago. The graphics card is a NVidia Quadro FX 360M with 256 MB RAM. Shouldn't be too much of a problem imho, it's well over the Atlantica latest graphics. Interestingly, the flickering problem went away after about 5 minutes. No real explanation for it.
