Um...I would say they are all good. It really depends what kind of mercenaries you get to support your main...
Nonetheless...
Sword:
- Single Target attack
- Melee Class. Can only attack enemies that are not blocked by other enemies.
- Has Flame Sword (High powered single attack spell)
- Only main class that can use a shield
- Highly durable (tank), but susceptible to magic attacks.
Axe:
- Does row attacks (hits 1-3 enemies by swinging horizontally)
- Melee Class. Can only attack enemies that are not blocked by other enemies.
- Has Freezing Axe spell (stun your enemies for a few turns)
- Has high HP
- Durable, but more susceptible to magic attacks than 'Sword' and kinda slow
Spear:
- Does column attacks (physical attack = 2 enemies in a column)
- Melee Class. Can only attack enemies that are not blocked by other enemies.
- Has Lightning Spear spell (attacks 1-3 enemies in a column + reduce AP [slow them down])
- Defense/Magic Defense balanced between Sword & Axe classes
Gun:
- Does column attacks (physical attack = 3 enemies in a column)
- Range class. Can hit airborne enemies, but can only attack enemies that are not blocked by other enemies
- Has Wild Shot spell (High powered column spell attack)
- High dex = good accuracy, average attack power
- Better magic defense, high HP, but poor defense
- Can work with other gun/artillery mercenaries to stun enemies over time
Artillery/Cannon:
- Does AoE attacks (on a 3 x 3 grid, can attack in a + sign)
- Range Class. But can't hit airborne enemies
- Has Deep Insight spell (AoE (weak) degen + show enemies HP)
- High dex, but not as strong as Gun/Archer classes
- Better magic defense, high HP, but poor defense
- Can work with other gun/artillery mercenaries to stun enemies over time
- Can damage any enemy because of its arching attacks
Archer:
- Does single attacks
- Range Class. Can hit airborne enemies
- Has Silence spell (silence enemies + small degen)
- High dex. Stronger than Gun/Artillery
- Better magic defense, high HP, but poor defense
- Can damage any single enemy because of its arching attacks
Shaman:
- Does single magic attacks, but can only attack enemies that are not blocked by other enemies
- Magic Class. Can hit airborne enemies
- Has Healing Spell (forgot the name lol)
- Has Hex of Darkness Spell (column dark magic degen)
- Strong Magic Defense and INT, but has poor defense and HP
- Great support class in general
