i am so out of practice... getting back into drawing after not really doing anything for a long-ass while. random portrait for imagination, in progress. about an hour in right now...

realized the colors were getting too muddy and then while fixing that problem, broke up the forms on the face. help

I think its the eyes. They're looking directly at you. Generally, people are uncomfortable if you stare directly at them. Maybe if the eyes were drawn looking in a different direction, the drawing would give off a different vibe.
