Mostly fanservice I'm sure, to rake in the viewers. If I were a guy, big boobs would be a turn off for me. And I don't mean average-sized "big" but the humongous ones that look like they could give the girl back problems. BUT I'm not a guy, so I don't really care lulz o_o

i think alot of the appeal of this for guys is because of this.
in reality,a girl with abnormally big boobs are not hot/cute,and they are more then likely fake.
only in an anime can they be "real" and still make a girl look cute/hot/whatever they were going for.

@Danzig: Think Katsura Kotonoha from School Days. She's supposed to have very big boobs, but I think she still looks nice... not freakish or anything. But when the artist exaggerates a girl's chest size, it does look gross on occasions @_@

well personally I don't think this all too much of a problem.
But maybe the level at which I consider big might be higher than most?
But really if there weren't any stacked characters then it would be completely non-realistic as there's plenty of real people who have large boobs.
But if you find that most animes you watch have this issue then you're obviously watching the wrong series for yourself.
Do a little bit more digging through series and find ones that you'll actually enjoy.

yea i got confused cuz most of the mainstream animes don't have really big boobs
it depends on which ones you watch
even in the hentais i've seen, the boobs are pretty much proportionate
although it depends on what your idea of big boobs are
where i live, there's a good number of girls who have em
so my idea of what's ridiculously big might not be the same as everyone else's

Too many big/huge boobs in a series tends to deduct enjoyment points for me.
