15/07/09 - Corrected some minor errors, thanks Ren for pointing out my mistakes in the MP Maximization section.
Note - This guide is still missing information regarding Warmage and beyond.
Future updates will include this information once I've thoroughly tested each skill properly.

_ [MTT02]_ _ - Intro:
The battle mage is currently one of, if not THE strongest and most efficient class released on IAH Dragonica.
When I first started playing, I found a significant lack of guides accessible regarding skill builds for the battle mage.
The ones that I did find were rather bias, and as a result led myself into creating a build that I was uncomfortable with.
I feel that the author may not always be right, myself included. Even if the author's opinion was just, it may not serve justice for the reader.
Hence I decided to experiment with the skills myself, and create an unbiased and comprehensive guide for future players to create a build that they will enjoy.
In this guide, I will try my best to be as neutral as possible regarding skills, and offer my opinion seperately from the skills' analysis.
Hopefully this will allow the reader to make an informed decision, into creating the most fun, effective or even a unique skill build that best suits their style.
I myself am a strong supporter of players playing in their own unique way, no matter what skill build or fighting style they prefer.
As long as they enjoy themselves, then that's truly the best they can get out of any given game.
Last but not least, I hope you all have as much fun reading and using this guide, as I did in creating it.
Life is too short to not enjoy it to the fullest.
_ [MTT03]_ _ - Disclaimer/Legal Stuff:
This guide was developed solely for the use on MyMMOGames.net, I spent a lot of time creating this guide from scratch so please be considerate and refrain from modifying, posting,
or taking credit for it on any other site. If you do however see this guide being published on any other site besides MyMMOGames.net, please contact me by private message.
This guide was built entirely around the Battle Mage route; if you are looking for information regarding acolytes, sorry you're in the wrong place.
Information regarding Warmage will be added later when I have had enough time to test all the skills out properly to summarize them.
Please keep in mind that my focus in this guide is SOLELY for PVE only, as I do not play PVP much at all, I decided not to make any comments at all regarding it,
since I'm somewhat unqualified to do so.
The majority of damage multipliers, cool downs and cast times are all entirely rough estimates as I did not have the game open in the time of writing.
More importantly, terms like 37% MATK + 123 damage can be misleading and a pain in the rectum to comprehend, making it impractical to me in this guide.
Also due to the lack of usage in proper sources, there may be a chance of inaccurate information, in which case I gladly welcome any corrections.
The goal of this guide is practicality, relativity and comprehensibility; being perfectly accurate and politically correct was irrelevant to me.
Acronyms have been kept to a minimal to make things as easy to comprehend as possible.
Leading to rather, maybe lots of words to read. (sorry)
The skill descriptions were taken directly from in-game or off the IAH website, some of them make very little sense, but don't blame me, I didn't write them.
I do however try to clarify as much as possible in the analysis following the descriptions.
In order to prevent confusion in certain types of skills when the user is using the 'find' feature,
offensive and supportive skills will be highlighted in a different color.
This guide was written at 1440x900 resolution, however extra care was taken with the format to ensure maximum viewing pleasure for lower resolutions.
However it may not be perfect, if you find it difficult to read at your resolution please let me know.
All images used were created by me via screenshot, paint and Adobe Photoshop 5.5. (yeah it's outdated ._.)
Except for those skills which I never added, which were taken from the official Dragonica website, which were then modified to match the forum background by me.
Unfamiliar with all the weird [ABC-12] tags?

_ [MTT05]_ _ - Mage skills (1st job) Offensive type:
_ [BMS01]_ _ Point Buster (Active)
Description: Blast 2 standing or fallen enemies with magical energy and launch them into the air. At skill level 4, height of victims being launched reaches its peak.
Analysis - Point Buster has an approximately 1 second cast time, and knocks up to 6 targets high into the air at max level. The damage however is negligible so raising levels
for it would be for the purpose of increasing the amount of targets it launches. It is then generally chained into an Air Combo.
Level 1 - Launches 2 targets.
Level 2 - Launches 3 targets.
Level 3 - Launches 4 targets.
Level 4 - Launches 5 targets.
Level 5 - Launches 6 targets.
Pros - It has a relatively wide blast radius, and is probably the easiest skill of all to use Air Combo on. It also launches targets the highest out of all first job mage
skills, it is also instantly reusable after a casting a set of Air Combo in any situation, in other words excellent cool down time (2 seconds).
It can also launch enemies that are both standing or fallen.
Cons - The cast time is rather slow, roughly 1 second. Due to it's slow casting nature, it's easily interruptible and almost unusable at all on bosses and rare monsters.
The nature of its high launch can also be a flaw since it actually takes more time to wait and jump up to intercept with Air Combo, thus resulting in a lower damage output
over time. Also, despite its wide blast range, only the horizontal portion of it is truly used, as the vertical launch will knock the targets vertically and out of range of
any potential Air Combo.
Rating - 7/10 in 1st job, 4/10 later due to SP restrictions.
Opinion - I had this skill maxed on my first skill build, because I was totally addicted to Air Combo with it, it was incredibly fun for me when I started. However as I
approached 2nd job, I was lacking in SP to use, thus I had no choice but to abandon some skills. Result was I chose to drop this skill. Since we receive a skill
reset after job changing, it couldn't really hurt to play around with this, but once again that's up to you. Nevertheless I personally truly had a lot of fun playing with this
skill on big mobs of enemies, and hey what other reason besides fun would you play a game? ^^
_ [BMS02]_ _ Air Combo (Passive)
Description - Jump and fire an electric bolt at enemies in mid-air. Can fire as many bolts as the number of your skill level.
Analysis - This is a passive skill that enables you to fire off lightning in a horizontal line while in mid air. It can hit an infinite* amount of targets in the air at roughly
25% more than your RA. It also hits each target twice resulting in roughly 250% damage compared to RA every shot.
Criticals will also come in pairs. Ground targets cannot be attacked.
Level 1 - Allows you to fire a lightning bolt once after jumping.
Level 2 - Allows you to fire a lightning bolt twice after jumping.
Level 3 - Allows you to fire a lightning bolt three times after jumping.
Pros - Excellent damage output even in 2nd job, can be used after almost any launching attack.
It has a near instant CT, less than 0.1 seconds per shot.
Did I mention it can hit infinite* targets? 125% x2 per shot and double criticals?
Cons - It requires Point Buster Lv.1 as a prerequisite and may also restrict your SP if kept in 2nd job.
Despite how this skill looks, you cannot hit ground targets with it.
Rating - 10/10 in 1st job, 8/10 later on.
Opinion - This skill is pretty much your bread and butter in 1st job.
I had it maxed on my first build, dropped it on my second build, then regretted it and picked it up once again in my 3rd and current build.
I find the damage output to be the fastest and most efficient on single or separated targets even in 2nd job,
and due to its extreme versatility I became very uncomfortable when I dropped it. What can I say? I LOVE this skill.
Suggestion: Lv.3 in 1st job, either Lv.3 or ditch it entirely along with Meteor Fall and Point Buster in 2nd job.
_ [BMS03]_ _ Re-Launch (Active)
Description - Attack up to 2 fallen enemies and launch them into the air.
Analysis - This skill has roughly 0.1 seconds CT, and knocks two targets at Lv.1 up to six targets at Lv.5 into the air.
The height of the launches are comparable to Point buster, but has a rather small impact range.
Level 1 - Launches 2 targets.
Level 2 - Launches 3 targets.
Level 3 - Launches 4 targets.
Level 4 - Launches 5 targets.
Level 5 - Launches 6 targets.
Pros - The casting speed of Re-Launch is fast, almost instant, I'd go as far as to say that the speed is comparable to a shot of Air Combo.
Excellent in maintaining combos, or finishing off a near dead enemy on the floor.
It also requires no prerequisites and only 10 SP to raise per level.
Cons - It can only attack enemies that are on the ground, and the attack range is extremely short, about as wide as your character and targeted directly in front of you only.
May be difficult to pull off if you lag or don't pay enough attention.
Rating - 8/10 if kept at Lv.1 only, 2/10 if maxed.
Opinion - My first build raised this skill to Lv.3, when I was using it I realized that very rarely would a large number of enemies be on the floor,
bunched up at that exact range in order to all be hit by a single Re-Launch. Thus I found it quite meaningless to raise it any further, and later dropped it down to Lv.1.
Nevertheless this skill can be excellent if used correctly, even in 2nd job it can buy you a lot of cool down time, launch enemies for Air Combo, or simply finish off near dead enemies.
The damage is also reasonably good for a Lv.1 skill of its speed, one of my favorite uses for it are using down attack twice on fallen enemies then connect it into a Re-Launch to continue my combos.
IMHO this is the best 10 SP you can spend if the skill is kept at Lv.1, I wouldn't go anywhere without it. Haha.
_ [BMS04]_ _ Meteor Fall (Active)
Description - Drop a small meteor from the air, attacking up to 2 standing or fallen enemies.
Analysis - This attack will instantly drop a meteor in front of you, hitting enemies in a relatively good radius on the floor.
At skill Lv.3 it also launches them at a low height, just enough to be linked into Air Combo.
It can only be used whilst in mid air, and allows you to hover briefly after casting.
Level 1 - Hits 2 targets.
Level 2 - Hits 3 targets.
Level 3 - Launches 4 targets briefly.
Level 4 - Launches 5 targets briefly.
Level 5 - Launches 6 targets briefly.
Pros - Extremely fast CT once again, it can be used as an urgent means of escaping damage or an undeniably fast and heavy damage dealer if linked into Air Combo.
One of the most efficient mob destroying combinations even at 2nd job.
Cons - This attack is fairly useless if the mob cannot be launched eg: boss.
Its damage is also somewhat negligible on its own if you consider the extra airtime on your character of approximately 1 second, after casting it.
Hitting RA in that situation would easily out damage it by far.
It also consumes a lot of SP requiring both Lv.1 Point Buster, and Lv.3 Air Combo (to actually be useful) as prerequisites.
The skill will also be forced out even if you don't want it to if you try to hit RA during the descent of a jump.
Also, it cannot hit airborne targets.
Rating - 9/10 in 1st job, 7/10 in 2nd job.
Opinion - I like this skill very much, if you just hit jump then meteor immediately, then into attack you can execute a very easy to use combination in conjunction with Air Combo.
This combination is not only extremely devastating, it can also decimate up to 6 enemies at a time depending on your skill level.
Personally I suggest keeping it at Lv.3, as that is the level where the launching portion kicks in.
Maxing it can be good as it allows you to kill more enemies at the same time, however it does not have a great range and rarely will you hit 6 enemies at a time.
Decide based on how many enemies you want to launch, and how frequently the opportunity arises, as the meteor damage is negligible.
Suggestion - Lv.5 in 1st job, Lv.3 or nothing in 2nd job.
_ [BMS05]_ _ Fortress (Active)
Description - Turns into Cannonhead and blast up to 5 enemies.
Analysis - N/A
Pros - N/A
Cons - N/A
Rating - N/A
Opinion - I'm sorry I cannot offer an opinion on this skill as I have not tried it, however I have heard nothing but negative comments about it and not a single positive comment.
It's probably no good, but keep an open mind. Who knows it may be the underdog you're searching for.
I honestly doubt those who are criticizing it have even maxed this skill plus its 2 passives to begin with.
Thus making their opinion on the matter as useful as a dirty toilet seat.
_ [BMS06]_ _ Cannon Upgrade (Passive)
Description - Upgrade power of Fortress to deal more damage and have a 50% chance to cause lv1 Profuse Bleed.
Analysis - Same as above.
Pros - N/A
Cons - N/A
Rating - N/A
Opinion - Same as above.
_ [BMS07]_ _ Bullet Acceleration (Passive)
Description - Increase the speed of Fortress bullet by 20%.
Analysis - Same as above.
Pros - N/A
Cons - N/A
Rating - N/A
Opinion - Same as above.
_ [MTT06]_ _ Mage Skills (1st job) Support type:
_ [BMS08]_ _ MP Potion Maximization (Passive)
Description - Increase all MP potion effects by 10%.
Analysis - Increases the amount of mp gained from potions by 10% per skill level, at Lv.5 you gain +30%. So if you're drinking a 1000MP potion it becomes a 1300MP one.
Level 1 - +10% MP from MP potions.
Level 2 - +15% MP from MP potions
Level 3 - +20% MP from MP potions
Level 4 - +25% MP from MP potions
Level 5 - +30% MP from MP potions
Pros - Increases mp gained from potions a fair bit, not only will this save you a lot of money in the long run, but you will never have to constantly jam your potion
key to maintain your MP.
Cons - You will have 40-50 less SP to spend I guess.
Rating - 8/10
Opinion - This helps a lot in maintaining mp, a brilliant skill to have. I did not max it in my initial build, but decided to max it later on.
Despite being an excellent passive skill, it's not something you will suffer too much without.
Although unless you are planning to pick up and max every single attack in both jobs, you will probably want to save some SP for this.
_ [BMS09]_ _ Magic Enhancement (Passive)
Description - Permanently increase MATK by 20.
Analysis - This passive skill will raise your MATK at a constant of 20 per level. Not much more to say.
Level 1 - MATK +20.
Level 2 - MATK +40.
Level 3 - MATK +60.
Level 4 - MATK +80.
Level 5 - MATK +100.
Pros - Gives you a nice and permanent boost of MATK by 100 if maxed, any MATK you can gain is always good.
Sometimes even a 20 MATK difference can potentially mean wiping a mob of enemies in one move, or two seperate ones.
Cons - Well if I really had to name one, it would be that after lv45+ the extra MATK becomes less significant for the SP spent, being 15 SP per level.
Rating - 8/10
Opinion - I personally wouldn't go without it, every bit of MATK adds up in the long run.
Unless you intend to go for some truly unique build and lack the SP to do so, you will probably want to level Magic Enhancement up.
_ [BMS10]_ _ Focus (Active)
Description - You gain 4 INT and 8% MATK from the avatar of Buddhi.
Analysis - This is a self-buff skill that will increase your INT by 20, and MATK by 24% at maximum level.
This will drastically increase your MATK, max MP and MP regeneration*.
Level 1 - +4 INT +8% MATK
Level 2 - +8 INT +12% MATK
Level 3 - +12 INT +16% MATK
Level 4 - +16 INT +20% MATK
Level 5 - +20 INT +24% MATK
Pros - Drastically increases your MATK, thus increasing damage output (duh).
The effect of the increase will always be constant, it will never become less important no matter what level you reach.
Cons - The cost of MP for casting this skill is relatively high at 320 MP, you won't notice it much at later levels, but early on it will hit you pretty hard.
Not much else, besides having a cat head. You can change that by going into Menu -> Options -> Misc and tick View Helm.
Rating - 10/10
Opinion - With this self buff activated, you gain 24% of your current MATK and 20 INT.
More MATK means less attacks to kill an enemy, which means more enemies to kill over time.
The only real flaw with this skill is the buff system in this game. If you need to let's say change a channel or go toilet break, and exit the game.
Upon logging back in your buffs will be gone, hence needing to re-cast buffs, leading to an unnecessary strain to your MP consumption.
It's not really a big deal though, besides if you're really that cheap, just click Cash Shop, you can hide in there without losing your buffs.*
Suggestion: Using this buff is like throwing away your MP5 for an AK47, massive power up with buff active.
Should pick it up unless you want some bizarre build.
*I'm fairly positive on this, but would like further confirmation.
_ [BMS11]_ _ Slow Heal (Active)
Description - Restore 1% of Max HP every 3 seconds for the skill duration.
Analysis - This skill takes roughly 0.5 seconds to cast, and will restore 1-5% of your max HP every 3 seconds for a total of 30 seconds. Thus meaning it will restore 10%-50%
of your max HP over 30 seconds.
Level 1 - 1% HP restored per 3 seconds.
Level 2 - 2% HP restored per 3 seconds.
Level 3 - 3% HP restored per 3 seconds.
Level 4 - 4% HP restored per 3 seconds.
Level 5 - 5% HP restored per 3 seconds.
Pros - Regenerates half your HP at max level.
This skill will mainly be used as a gold/potion saver when farming.
Economy wise, it is more effective than raising points into Mana Shield.*
Cons - The CT. We usually take on the most damage mid-combo, and using this skill may break it, hence it's almost unusable in MM's and the like unless you have excellent timing.
It won't really help your survivability unless you execute prior to fighting enemies, in which case it's generally replaceable with a simple HP potion.
Rating - 6/10
Opinion - When farming for gold/equipment later on, you will most likely eat a lot of HP potions, this skill will practically nullify the need to use even one HP potion at all.
In the long run it saves money, more so than raising Mana Shield beyond Lv.1.*
Think of it as an active buff lasting 30 seconds, that increases your regeneration ability drastically;
where the amount healed based on % will never decrease no matter what level you reach.
I'm quite fond of this skill, but will probably drop it without hesitation if the need for more SP arises.
A good skill to spend your spare SP on.
*this case is strictly for farming purposes only, this does not apply when you are getting slammed for damage far higher than the skill can regenerate.
_ [BMS12]_ _ Self Heal (Active)
Description - Covert MATK into heals to cast a Recovery Spell on yourself.
Analysis - N/A
Pros - N/A
Cons - N/A
Rating - N/A
Opinion - Whether fortunately or unfortunately, I have never added this skill, due to the need for it never arising.
With slow heal, HP potions and food (apple, bread rolls etc.),
adding this skill seemed overkill for me.
I apologise for being unable to provide any real comment on here.
_ [MTT07]_ _ Battle Mage Skills (2nd job) Offensive type:
_ [BMS13]_ _ Ball Lightning (Active)
Description - Fires an energy ball that shocks 5 enemies.
Analysis - Ever played Diablo 2? This skill is very similar to the Sorceress's cold orb.
Casting it will shoot out an orb of lightning which moves forward slowly, damaging up to 5 targets at a time repeatedly while passing through them,
dealing massive damage. It also picks up both airborne and fallen targets and forces them to stand.
The damage of each hit at Lv.5 is approximately 150% of your RA.
Targets standing still will be hit between 5-9 hits depending on their size.
Level 1~5 - Significant damage increases.
Pros - This skill is very powerful, even more so than blizzard if Energy Condensation is raised with it.
Forcing both airborne and fallen targets to stand is also very worth mentioning as it will greatly raise your ability to link combos.
It also flinches targets heavily disabling all movement and attacks besides on bosses.
Also it does not rely on accuracy, meaning the attack will never miss a target.
Cons - There is only one problem with Ball Lightning, if you use any attack while it is damaging a target, it will reset your combo counter*.
Also a bad judgment of timing while waiting for the orb to pass through targets can also throw you off into messing up combos.
Requires a bit of timing to pull it off consistently. Due to the fact that this skill does not rely on accuracy, it can also never cause critical hits.
Rating - 9/10
Opinion - As I mentioned previously, this skill has the highest damage potential and flinching ability.
However it can also be rather unreliable at times, so you must use it wisely.
For example if a boss is moving towards you, it will hit only 2-3 times at best.
However one very important point is that if you fire it towards the wall, it will stop moving.
If you can create or find an opportunity while a boss is standing near that wall, every single hit will connect, causing the highest possible damage of any given skill.
Alternatively, firing it off into the direction a boss is walking towards will also give off a similar effect.
Suggestion: Despite trying not to be bias here, I still think this skill is worth maxing along with Energy Condensation. It's just too strong.
*As of the 09/07/09 patch, the combo counter no longer resets when attacking whilst using this skill.
_ [BMS14]_ _ Energy Condensation (Passive)
Description - Shorten the damage interval of ball lightning to 0.45 seconds.
Analysis - This passive skill is directly linked to Ball Lightning, initially the skill will hit once every 0.5 seconds. Lv.1 will decrease that to 0.45 seconds and max at 0.25 seconds.
Level 1 - Decreases interval between hits by 0.05 seconds.
Level 2 - Decreases interval between hits by 0.10 seconds.
Level 3 - Decreases interval between hits by 0.15 seconds.
Level 4 - Decreases interval between hits by 0.20 seconds.
Level 5 - Decreases interval between hits by 0.25 seconds.
Pros - Gives you double the hits on your ball lightning at max level.
Obviously meaning double the damage.
Cons - Can be a strain on SP to get both Ball Lightning and Energy Condensation if you are going for a uniquely different build.
Rating - 9/10
Opinion - Very worth it, doubling the amount of hits on an already devastating attack can only mean good things right?
_ [BMS15]_ _ Tornado (Active)
Description - Cast a tornado that deals damage to 5 targets, and launch them into the air. At skill level 4, fallen enemies can also be attacked.
Analysis - This attack has the widest attack range of all jobs to this point*, it's also relatively fast, casting instantly with an after cast delay of only 0.2 seconds.**
Damage wise it is roughly 150% of your regular attack, launching enemies as high or even higher than Point Buster. At skill Lv.4+ it will also launch enemies off the ground. Cool down is roughly 5 seconds.
Level 1 - Launches 5 standing enemies.
Level 2 - Launches 6 standing enemies.
Level 3 - Launches 7 standing enemies.
Level 4 - Launches 8 fallen or standing enemies.
Level 5 - Launches 9 fallen or standing enemies.
Pros - Can be linked into Air Combo. This skill is amazingly fast considering it's wide range, and is brilliant to use to set up a bigger mob to call Blizzard down upon.
Also does a good amount of damage even at low levels, making it a first choice to finish off huge mobs of enemies on low HP.
Cons - Timing this attack into Air Combo can be difficult at times, due to the 0.2 second after cast delay; you can only Air Combo right before they hit the floor.
Requires LV.4 in order to launch fallen targets, an extra 30 SP.
It can also be seen as an interruption in MM's if used incorrectly.
Also just like Point buster, the wide range launch is only effective horizontally for Air Combo, since the vertical range will push them back vertically.
This skill can be interrupted during the cast, causing the cool down to start ticking without the skill ever seeing daylight.
Rating - 6/10 if used as a spam skill, 8/10 if used strategically.
Opinion - This is an extremely controversial skill.
Many people claim that it's useless and weak, and suggest leaving it at Lv.2 as a prerequisite for Blizzard.
However I personally found that this was my 2nd most used skill, mainly because I use it to force stray targets into a bigger mob for Blizzard, and also for finishing off anything that Blizzard does not kill.
I left this attack at Lv.2 on my previous build, but resetted and raised it to Lv.4 on my current build for the fallen launching ability.
I personally love this skill.
Suggestion - Lv.2 is required for Blizzard, but if you find that you want to do more with it, feel free to raise it to Lv.4 or even Lv.5 depending on your tastes.
* refers to both mage and battle mage skills, range wise requires confirmation
** rough estimate, precise confirmation welcome
_ [BMS16]_ _ Blizzard (Active)
Description - Summons an ice storm that has a 20% chance to inflict Freeze in the target zone.
Analysis - This skill takes roughly 0.15 seconds to cast and rains down approximately 6-7* waves of ice shards onto all targets within it's circle, each wave hitting roughly 125% of your RA damage.
It can also hit both airborne and fallen targets, with a fair chance of freezing the targets for 3 seconds at an individual chance for each enemy.
Level 1 - 20% chance to freeze targets. Significant damage increase.
Level 2 - 25% chance to freeze targets. Significant damage increase.
Level 3 - 30% chance to freeze targets. Significant damage increase.
Level 4 - 35% chance to freeze targets. Significant damage increase.
Level 5 - 40% chance to freeze targets. Significant damage increase.
Pros - Excellent damage, great range. Damages and freezes airborne, standing or fallen enemies.
To top it off even further, after casting this attack you are free to move around and attack while the shards are falling allowing you to inflict even more damage,
or even set yourself up to continue your combo further with another mob.
This attack also flinches most enemies.*
It also does not rely on accuracy, meaning it can never miss.
Cons - Using an aerial attack or anything that hits fallen enemies during blizzard will reset your combo counter**.
Also in order to get a good cast, you will sometimes need to move in close enough to take damage from the target/s before the cast is executed.
Due to this skill ignoring your accuracy, it will also never cause a critical hit.
Rating - 10/10
Opinion - I'm the same as anyone else on this one, wonderful skill.
Superb damage and versatility, can be used both offensively or defensively.
You can attack during the cast, it can hit standing, fallen or airborne enemies.
Not much else to say. Did i mention it almost always freezes everything including rare monsters?
*once again an estimation based on experience, confirmation welcome
**As of the 09/07/09 patch, combo counters no longer reset when using launching/aerial attacks during the duration of the skill.
_ [BMS17]_ _ Magic Missile (Active)**
Description - Fire 2 homing missiles that lock on the nearest enemy. At skill level 3, fallen enemy can also be attacked.
Analysis - Awesome fast damage, although the CD is pretty long. Perfect for killing a left over monster. Think of it as fast-forward blizzard; killing it quickly instead of slowly but only 1 monster.
Level 1 - Fire 2 missiles.
Level 2 - Fire 4 missiles.
Level 3 - Fire 6 missiles, fallen enemy can be attacked.
Level 4 - Fire 8 missiles, fallen enemy can be attacked.
Level 5 - Fire 10 missiles, fallen enemy can be attacked.
Pros - Pretty fast CT which is 0.4 seconds. The skill can attack up to the end of your screen. Can do quite a bit of damage when you're fighting a boss.
Cons - 15 second CD time. The skill can miss though, but with 10 missiles, it's pretty much okay.
Rating - 7.5/10
Opinion - You don't really need it since it can waste a quite a bit of SP. CD can be a pain to wait for but the damage makes up for it.
It's really awesome for PvP though; once you are able to stun, freeze or make the opponent on the ground, they are basically dead.
**This passage for Magic Missile has been written in its entirety by Hiratori. Thus all credits belong to him.
Does not represent my own opinion, as I never raised this skill beyond Lv.1, but you can trust this guy.
He's a true pro gamer haha.
Note: Maxed this skill as of 09/07/09, too lazy to add anything though. Most of it has been said.
_ [BMS18]_ _ Cloud Kill (Active)
Description - Creates a poison gas field, damaging up to 10 targets in the field for 40% of your MATK. Victims are inflicted with Lv.1 Lethal Poison. Targets are randomly chosen during each tick of poison.
Analysis - Blizzard's fugly twin brother, CT is approximately 1 second, range is the same as Blizzard.
At maximum level this attack will damage around 75% of your RA per second.
Lasts approximately 7.5 seconds, this attack will also flinch all targets within its circle.
Can be recast before the previous effect expires.
Level 1 - Damages at 40% of MATK
Level 2 - Damages at 50% of MATK
Level 3 - Damages at 60% of MATK
Level 4 - Damages at 70% of MATK
Level 5 - Damages at 80% of MATK
Pros - Can flinch and damage a large number of targets.
Cons - Requires a full 1 second to cast, making it easily interrupted, even more so being that you need to be near the mob like Blizzard in order to get a flawless cast.
Damage is also significantly weaker than Blizzard.
Rating - 5/10
Opinion - This is another extremely controversial skill, everyone seems to hate it due to it having a passive that requires even more SP to master.
However this skill does have some potential, for example if it is casted after Blizzard onto a mob, the effect can be incredibly nasty if maxed.
Not to mention the additional flinch and longer lasting effect will allow you to buy time whilst holding the mob in place for another Blizzard to be cast after it.
There may be more uses but I did not experiment that much.
Keep note that despite this skill having a passive linked to it, no one told you that you have to add it.
Did i mention it's hilarious? You will wave your butt and then green fumes come out. I got Lv.1 on it just for laughs.
But keep in mind if you are trying to be unique, and go for something different for your build, this skill just might be what you're looking for.
Suggestion: Not recommended, but feel free to explore.
_ [BMS19]_ _ Deadly Poison (Passive)
Description - Upgrade poison of Cloud Kill to Lv.4 Lethal Poison, dealing 34 hp per second for 24 seconds.
Analysis - N/A
Pros - N/A
Cons - Requiring hella skill points.
Rating - N/A
Opinion - I never added a single point in this, and am thus unqualified to comment.
Although personally I'm just really sick of damage over time attacks, thanks to World of Warcraft.
_ [MTT08]_ _ Battle Mage Skills (2nd job) Support type:
_ [BMS20]_ _ Battle Hit (Passive)
Description - Attack enemies in front, with the last attack knocking enemies back. Number of attacks are equivalent to the skill level.
Analysis - When enemies come within a certain range, your RA will turn into a swing of your spear, or a thrust pushing enemies back very slightly.
Each swing will hit roughly 50% damage of your RA at 0.35 seconds per swing, 0.4 seconds for the thrust.
Level 1 - One single thrust pushes back enemies slightly.
Level 2 - Swing your spear once, then thrusts your enemies back slightly.
Level 3 - Swing your spear twice, then thrusts your enemies back slightly.
Pros - Requires only 5 SP per level.
It can also hit an infinite* amount of targets at a time as long as they are in range, instead of just one in comparison to your RA.
Cons - This attack is slow, very slow.
Although it was meant for covering for the minor gap in which your RA will go straight through the enemy, it does this job very poorly.
If your normal gap was 2cm, the range where this attack is forced to come out is roughly 4.5cm.
It will come out whether you want to or not, significantly reducing your long term damage potential, and this is even more the case on big boss-like targets who always try to hug you.
Rating - 1/10
Opinion - I hate this skill, with a passion.
Not only is it slow but it keeps coming out when you don't want it to, and when you do want it to come out,
it does so too slowly, allowing the target to more than likely knock you down first and cancel it from hitting them.
The only reason you would pick this up is for the Staff Mastery below, and even so;
this skill will mess you up so much that you more than likely want to skip Staff Mastery, just because of having to pick Battle Hit up.
Suggestion: Lv.1 if you absolutely must, do not be greedy and pick up Lv2 and Lv3, the final thrust will push targets back,
but the additional swings are none other than a waste of time.
This skill will kill your parents, rape your loved ones and eat your children.
I highly recommend completely skipping it, even at the sacrifice of Staff Mastery.
Battle Hit is truly that terrible.
I apologize for being so terribly bias on this skill, as no other skill in any other game has ever pissed me off as much as this one. >:[
* Need confirmation.
_ [BMS21]_ _ Staff Mastery (Passive)
Description - Permanently increase ATK and MATK by 20.
Analysis - This passive skill will raise both your ATK and MATK at a constant of 20 per level. Same as Magic Enhancement.
Level 1 - ATK and MATK +20
Level 2 - ATK and MATK +40
Level 3 - ATK and MATK +60
Level 4 - ATK and MATK +80
Level 5 - ATK and MATK +100
Pros - Extra MATK is ALMOST always good, free damage gain permanently.
Cons - Battle hit.
Rating - 7/10
Opinion - This skill would be so good, if not for Battle Hit as a prerequisite.
It's kind of like a loli confessing her love for you, then when you date, she blasts you in the crotch with a shotgun.
Remember that scene from Kill Bill with Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama) and the guy in the bar? It's kind of like that.
Those who don't know what I'm talking about, click here. YouTube - Gogo Yubari awesome
_ [BMS22]_ _ Mana Shield (Active)
Description - Magical shield that absorbs 30% damage. 1 point of damage absorbed reduces 1 mp.
Analysis - Mana shield is a buff that takes 30% of damage that normally would have gone to your HP, and have that diverted towards your MP.
Therefore meaning if you were about to take 1000 damage, you would instead lose 700 HP and 300 MP. Extra levels in this skill will reduce the amount of MP taken.
Level 1 - Each 1 point of damage taken will reduce 1 MP.
Level 2 - Each 2 points of damage taken will reduce 1 MP.
Level 3 - Each 3 points of damage taken will reduce 1 MP.
Level 4 - Each 4 points of damage taken will reduce 1 MP.
Level 5 - Each 5 points of damage taken will reduce 1 MP.
Pros - Makes it easier for us to survive, additional levels will also heavily influence the amount we will need to spend on HP and MP potions.
Allows us to jam potions less often.
Will save you more money and potions than raising Slow Heal when fighting heavy hitting enemies.
Cons - Buff needs to be active for it to work, additional levels costing 20 SP each is terrible.
Rating - 7/10
Opinion - Sometimes when I forget to activate this buff, I immediately notice I am losing a lot more health per attack.
If we look at it from a different perspective, having this buff on even at just Lv.1, means that we gain an extra 30% to our max HP. This really helps considering how low our HP is as mages.
And from an even more passive perspective, being able to spend less gear on VIT and more towards INT, means our attack will be higher too in the long run.
However I do personally have some qualms in maxing this buff. 20 SP per extra level is a lot. And really, just at level 1 I honestly do not lose much MP at all.
In fact, my MP barely even budges at Lv.1, so honestly the extra 80 skill points to max this skill did not appeal to me at all.
But fact is, I personally farm more than I go to MM's, thus making Slow Heal more appropriate for me.
However if your main purpose is to level via MM's then by all means raise it to your desire.
However that is only my view on the subject, I still recommend for you to decide for yourself on how you wish to deal with this skill.

I'm an incredibly pleasant and sociable person, at least I think so haha! I have a bit of a short fuse, so try to be nice!
I've been a dedicated online gamer for many years, some titles including Gunbound, Counter-Strike, Diablo 2, Trickster Online, Lunia, Rappelz and many many more.
I'm known by my friends as a crazy, sadistic, mean, psychedelic sociopath that talks too much.
I'm naturally lazy, love to sleep in, love sweet foods and dogs.
My favorite shows are South Park, Family Guy and Gintama.
I hate immature, fascist and flirtatious people (only those who take it seriously).
I'm working as a banker, currently studying studio hairdressing.

_ [MTT11]_ _ - Credits/Shoutouts:
First off, I'd like to thank you as the reader for checking this guide out. After all if no one reads this, what's the point right?
This is the first guide I've written in 5 years, the last one I wrote was for Gunbound many years ago.
This is my first attempt at creating such an in-depth guide, also my first time with so much focus on the format.
Any constructive criticism or corrections are gladly welcomed.
IAH Games, if not for these guys, I wouldn't have such an enjoyable gaming experience to write about.
Also for the many images taken from the website and in game.
Thanks guys, I wish for nothing but your success. I will do my part :]
Joanne aka Annie, you're the best friend a girl can have, if neither of us are married by age 40, I'm taking you. TOO BAD.
NoeJeko aka Paul, this guy is not only awesome for bringing us this forum and community together, but also one of my most precious old friends.
Haha I told you one of these days I'll brag about being your friend!
John aka Pedobear, this guy is a jerk but I love him! He's been there as my fav gaming buddy for as long as I could remember.
You are awesome, too awesome. Sadly you know it so my words are wasted here haha.
Nick aka Theosis, this old friend kicks ass in every single game I have ever seen. When I hit a wall and was stuck with how to do the format of this guide the way I intended;
it was this awesome guy who gave me the magnificent idea of using _'s and changing them to the color of the background. You kick ass Nick!
Miyuki. When I was first stuck with the above problem, she gave no hesitation to offer ideas on how to overcome my problem, and not only that;
she was the one who found me the color code to hide the _'s in the guide while Nick and myself were struggling to find it.
I truly cannot thank you enough for the help you have given me. Much love babe! x3
Vince aka Hiratori, my favorite partner in crime from Grand Chase. This guy's my hero, he's mad talented in games, waaaay more so than me.
He also not only offered, but edited the Magic Missile section for me in its entirety, since I never raised the skill to have made an informed comment on it.
Thank you Vee. Don't you dare vanish on me again!
Tinh aka TAMBABY, this sexy babe is so darn fun to be around. She's energetic, always positive and never shuts up!
Haha I'm j/k, you know I adore you. But yeah, this is the one girl that is actually more noisy than me, I LOVE IT!
Don't you ever change girl, if I were a man I would be kneeling for your engagement~
Guild Yuri, I'm sorry I couldn't mention all of you. It's not because you aren't important enough because no, you guys are the BEST.
I love you guys with all my heart and soul! It's just that you know? I'm lazy and all.. You should know by now hahaha.
I can't live without you guys, keep rocking! I'll add individual shoutouts for all of you eventually. ^^
