Well there was only one style for FireRed to be adopted in, 2D... :O
The DS can do both 3D and 2D, so it's possible they could do it in 2D, but then what's the point of having it on the DS then, imo, 2D looks nice if you want nostalgia and stuff, but 3D looks a lot better. Imagine what the game could look like!
