All traps in Dofus worked the same way. You plant it then move away. If a target moves adjacent to it, they immediately trigger it and their movement is interrupted, ending their turn. What you're describing sounds awfully difficult to use whatsoever.
With these AGI caps, it might be hard to dodgelock in this game...
