There's a lot of strange reasoning that goes along with the courts.
Clearly, this was a symbolic act by a judge that sees this sort of crime as the most despicable. While it might make some interesting reading, it also makes known to the would-be abusers in this judge's jurisdiction that if they engage in any similar behavior, they too can look forward to spending the next rest of their life in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day.
There was this non-human who raped and murdered two sisters (who used to babysit me when i was much younger) along with two other girls. He's currently serving 4 life sentences, 3 of them consecutively and 1 concurrently with one of the others.
