Valkyrie has "better survivability" in terms of recovery, but the burst damage is horrible.

The things that are plaguing Valk teams are their low HP and average attack. Your recovery means nothing if you can't survive hits.

Dragon teams on the other hand, thrives on superior offense, but at the cost of recovery. That's why you bring Echidna in. It's usually do or die within the delayed turns before the boss strikes.

And as iEdGamer said, Valkyrie teams convert the essential heart orbs away. You can put a light swordsman in like I do, but he's no healer in any sense.

tl;dr, dragon teams and Valkyrie teams pretty much OHKO stuff up to hard, so survivability is a non factor. For master and even hell, dragon teams has the firepower to KO before getting hit hard by the boss, while Valkyrie teams can't hit hard and doesn't have the HP to tank.
