Why do you say GN-X IV is stronger? Because you spent the entire post talking about how Unicorn is great so it's confusing.
Anyway I'd say Unicorn is stronger and more useful basically for the reasons you listed but honestly I think he should just get GN-X IV anyway because it's basically never used, and not so bad.
