Requirements:

Easy method requirements:

1. A Computer with windows 7 that can handle Trickster (not sure about windows 8. cans someone test it later?)
2. An internet connection. Needs to be stable and pretty fast.
   (you are connecting to a server thousands of miles away...)
3. Patience.

Hard method requirements:

1. a Computer That can run VMware (player, workstation or fusion)
   Vmware player is FREE for Linux and windows users
   but
   Vmware Fusion For mac Cost 50$. (problem mac users?)
   
   my recommended system requirements:
   2.8ghz core 2 duo or above (with intel VT)
   2.2ghz i5 processor or above
   1.7ghz i7 processor or above
   
   4gb+ ram
   
   at least 40gb of extra hard drive space
   
   A Decent video card
   a middle/high end 2005 video card (ex:geforce 6600, Ati x600, ATI x1400)
   or
   a middle/low end 2007 video card (ex:geforce 8400, ATI x1550)
   or
   low end modern card: (ex: geforce 620gt)
   or
   Late 2012 Intel integrated graphics (Intel Hd 4000)
   
   or better~.
2. An internet connection. Needs to be stable and pretty fast.
   (you are connecting to a server thousands of miles away...)
3. Copy of windows xp or 2000 or 98se
4. Patience. (more than easy method)

Installing jTO (EASY):

First download and install the client.
get the client from: Download
Then install it :3

DO NOT UPDATE JTO WHILE USING A VPN. IT WILL BE VERY SLOW & WILL MOST LIKELY GIVE YOU A CRITICAL ERROR.


Updating jTO (EASY):

Before launching jTO to update, we gotta switch the system's local to Japanese, and time zone to (UTC+ 09:00 Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo)
Start > Control panel > Clock, Language, and region > Region and language
Then click the [Chance system locale] button
then switch your systems locale to Japanese~

Next click your clock in the lower right corner and hit "change date and time settings..."
click the [Change time zone...] button and change it to (UTC+ 09:00 Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo)

Now to update jTO. Go to the trickster.jp website by using the trickster shortcut, or just going there directly.

press the login button, And log in using your google account. (the same one you made your jTO account with)

After logging in, it will take you back to the home page.... but this time, the Green button says "GAME START"

Click the Game Start, and it will redirect you to a page that looks like this:

Click the Big green buttonto start downloading necessary components, so that the jTO website can Load jTO for you AND log you in at the same time.

Now install the necessary components. Then close your internet browser, then open it back up and navigate back to the "Game start button" (you're gonna have to log in a again~) And hit dat button~

and it should take you to a screen that looks like this:
(If it doesn't, you'll probably have to install the components again.~)

After getting to that screen jTO will Magically open your jTO client, and it will start updating~

The update will take quite a while to complete, so patience is needed.
If am error occurs, don't panic, just restart the client, It will pickup from where it has failed~.
(just make use it actually downloads files everything you start it back up.)

After a while, the update will be complete!

IF you click the Options button, it will throw you an error. so no Changing settings. YET.

If you click the Start button, The Start screen will start loading. then go Black and/or freeze up.

But do not fret...

This is when you'll need that VPN......

(btw you can change you time zone back to normal after update is complete. if a future update fails, just change it back xD)

The VPN (EASY): New

Terms:
VPN: (Virtual private network) This is a location that you connect to, in order to mask your IP with a different IP.

VPN Software: Software that allows Creation of VPNs, and/or connecting to already made VPNs.

This is a FASTEST and more stable FREE vpn I found thus far.
(note: look for ping below 30ms and mbps higher than 50)

Find Japanese servers that support L2TP/IPsec protocol
-look for Servers that have High Mbps, and low ping ms.

The VPN (EASY): OLD (you can still use it, if you'd like)

Warning: The VPN supplied is currently in Beta, And is being supplied to users world wide out of good heart. Please do NOT take advantage of their good deeds and ruin it for other users~

This Vpn seems to work better on (Windows vista, xp, mac os X and linux) than in windows 7. (The built in vpn dialers~ are different from version to version)
windows 7 seems to D/C more, and has issues reconnecting (or even connecting in the first place)
[Different network cards, and certain drivers and networking programs also interfere with Vpn dialers]

Terms:
VPN: (Virtual private network) This is a location that you connect to, in order to mask your IP with a different IP.

VPN Software: Software that allows Creation of VPNs, and/or connecting to already made VPNs.

Unfortunately for you guys, The VPN I'm using Links DIRECTLY to my cousin's PC in japan~. So you guys won't be using it~

BUT I did spend the liberty of hunting down a Free Japanese VPN on the internets~

Heres where you can find it:

It a pretty nice FREE VPN that you can connect to~
It Pretty Fast and reliable.... for a free vpn.
(its not as good as paid VPNs. But its Free and it works pretty good. )

As for the VPN software.... Windows 7 Has it built in

First make an register at tsunagarumon~

Type in your email address, click the check box above the pink send button to agree to user terms, then click the pink button to submit~

Then confirm your email~

Go to your email and look for a email from them (It'll take 1 to 10 minutes to send)

Then click the supplied Confirmation link.

Back back to your email, and now there should be another email from them!

This should contain something like this:
(btw DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY TRANSLATE the email. It will try to translate the gibberish Password. The password is Case sensitive!)

Take note of:
Your Email address, this is your log on ID
Password, its a password just for you (don't share it!*)
Log on IP, This is the IP of the VPN you're logging onto. Remember it!


Now to log onto the VPN using Windows 7's built in VPN!!!
go to:
Start > Control panel > Network and Internet > network and sharing center

Then click "Set up a new connection or network".

Then click connect to a Workspace.

When it asks "how do you want to connect?"
Click: Use my Internet connection (VPN)"

When the form pops up,
put that [Log in IP] you got earlier into the internet address slot,
And What ever name you desire into the Destination name slot. (you are naming so you'll remember what is later.)

Put you User ID (your email address. the one you used earlier) into the username slot.

Hit next. and let it connect

To disconnect or reconnect. just hit your network connection button on the task bar, go to what ever you named it (in my case "Rising Sun")

Click it, then hit connect or disconnect.

To make sure its working.
Open you webbrowser, and go to "google.com"
It should redirect you to Google.jp (japanese google)

The google search "What's my ip"
If should be the same as the VPN you are connected to. (also make sure websites say its a japanese ip*)

Starting jTO (EASY):

To play jTO, You have to be constantly connected to a Japanese vpn.
It has to be turned on BEFORE game guard pops up.
If you try turning off the VPN at any time (world select, ingame, start screen, myshop) jTO will instantly shut down.

Go to the jTO website, and log in (using your google account)

After being taken Back to the Home page, Hit the Green button (which now says "Game Start") to get to a page like this:

After getting to that screen jTO will Magically open your jTO client.

CONNECT to your VPN via the network connection button on the task bar.

go to what ever you named your VPN connection (in my case "Rising Sun")

Click it, then hit connect or disconnect.

THEN you hit that Start button in the jTO client.

If everything is working perfectly, JTO will load, and take you DIRECTLY to the world select Menu. (I recomend Fantasia!!!!)

Select a world, then select a channel.
jTO has two worlds: Fantasia and Jewelia. Each world has 3 channels.
The first channel is usually the busiest, while the other 2 are usually emptier (less lag/people). you can freely float between channels withing the same world~. (IE if you have a character in Fantasia ch1. you can log off and log back onto Fantasia ch 2 or ch3, using the same character.)

After selecting a channel, A pop up will tell you to make a Pin for you account. Make the pin (via clicking a number pad on the screen xD). And hit the confirm button.
[Everything you log onto jTO, you'll need to enter in this pin. DONT FORGET IT!!!!]

Click a Card to Start making your character!

(might be a good idea to Enter a name in Japanese)
to type in japanese, press ctrl-shift-0, then hit ctrl-shift-1 to switch to your keyboard mode to Japanese IME (Hiragana)

while in japanese ime, press [alt] - [~] to switch between direct input (english in my case) and kana~

Press [alt] - [Capslock]
and/or
[ctrl] - [Capslock]

To switch between katakana and hiragana


now that you have logged in at least once.... a registry as been added to windows
To Change you computers Resolution, and choose between full screen or windowed mode

Update:careful of Custom resolutions. Because of the new character log in system/ Creation, You might get an error if you use a custom resolution.

You navigate to about the same spot in regedit, except, instead of "Trickster_gsp" you edit whats in the "Trickster_GCrest" section~
(customize to your hearts content)




After this, the log in process is pretty much:

1. log onto website,
2. hit game start (on website)
3. Log onto VPN
4. Hit start button (jTO client)
5. Select world and channel
6. Enter pin
7. Select character

to type in japanese, press ctrl-shift-0, then hit ctrl-shift-1 to switch to your keyboard mode to Japanese IME (Hiragana)

while in japanese ime, press [alt] - [~] to switch between direct input (english in my case) and kana~

Press [alt] - [Capslock]
and/or
[ctrl] - [Capslock]

To switch between katakana and hiragana

This part of the guide is for people who are more tech savy, so please excuse
the lack of details in this part. This part will refer back to the Previous sections a lot.~

Setting up a VMWARE Virtual PC (HARD)

First install Vmware for you're respective system.
VMware player is Free for linux/windows users
But Mac users have to pay 50$ for VMware Fusion.

Make a new virtual machine:
And make the settings as such ( or at least as close to as to it as possible)

RAM:
1.2gb of ram

CPU:
Number of cores 1 (you can put more if you'd like....)

Harddrive:
20gb

Network:
NAT
(for now* and for later*)

Graphics:
Accelerate 3D.

After that you install/update/register Windows xp or 2000 (or 98se?).
onto the newly created virtual pc.

Install the VMware tools, update directx, and make sure to Directx 3d
works via DxDiag (start > run dxdiag > display > Test direct 3d)

Set Time zone to Osaka/Tokyo (on the vitual PC)

Install Japanese IME
-Set shortcuts (keys settings in text services and input languages) for language bar. ctrl-shift-0 for english. ctrl-shift-1 for japanese. (on the vitual PC)

and set system local to Japanese (on the vitual PC).

Installing and Updating jTO client(HARD):

untill you get to the part where jTO is about to update.
Switch the virtual PC's netwok Setting to
Bridged: replicate physical network connection state.

update jTO client, THEN switch it back to NAT.

This another vpn that works with jTO~
here's some info about it:
Its a 3rd party software you gotta download and install

It Doesn't D/C as much as Tsunagarumon

The laggy-nes of it Varies by HOW MANY PEOPLE are logged onto it at the current time. SO certain hours(about 8am-3pm PST) you will be running FASTER than Tsunagarumon vpn, Other hours (about 3pm-night PST) you are running with Really bad input lag.

Doesn't work on all PC's. (made my windows 7 laptop BSOD. All my other* computers running xp, vista, 7 worked fine though. It also worked on a few of my friends computers)
So be warned: this program might mess up your computer.(if it does just uninstall it). Use with caution.

Pretty much: I use the vpn when its not laggy, or when i need to set up a overnight afk store.

Installation:

First download thy program:
PacketiX.NET Secure Internet Service - VPN Client Installation

And a pre-made configuration file: http://www.mobilefree.jp/jp/download...ileFree.jp.vpn

Pretty much you install the program,

go to the menubar:
Connect > Import VPN Connection Settings

And select the MobileFree.jp.vpn Config file.

After its loaded, click the newly added vpn, and hit connect.
(if its Fails to install the virtual network adapter, that means it won't work. This is what my my windows 7 laptop BSOD Dx)

After everything is connected, Go to google, Search "Whats my IP" And make sure the Ip is a japanese Ip. (sometimes its doesn't fully connect. in these cases, just disconnect, and reconnect~)

Troubleshooting
notes:

The new character select/creation system might not be compatible with the resolution hack. IF you get an error. get rid of the hack, and try again.

Tsunagarumon is a PPTP type VPN.
more details you might need to know:
Do not include Windows login Domain
"File and print sharing", "ipv6", "clients for microsoft Networks" Can be excluded
Data-Encryption is optional.

To play jTO, You have to be constantly connected to a Japanese vpn.
It has to be turned on BEFORE game guard pops up.
If you try turning off the VPN at any time (world select, ingame, start screen, myshop) jTO will instantly shut down.

If you load up jTO, and it just Goes:
black Screen, Then closes
or
Start screen, nothing shows up, Then closes
this means one of two things:

1. The vpn isn't instated properly, or no vpn is being used.
   it will just instantly close the client~
2. jTO is in maintenance. jTO has two scheduled maintenance every week. one big. one small. See jTO website Right below the green button for the schedule. it will be in Japanese, and will go off the time in japan~.

Tsunagarumon stuff

Tsunagarumon is one of the most popular Free Japanese vpn services. (notice the FREE and POPULAR part)

hence: They have to handle a LARGE amount of people.
(and not everything will be perfect from time to time.

Tsunagarumon is specifically a pptp vpn, so anything can dial a pptp vpn, can use tsunagarumon.

common errors and probable solutions(windows type vpn dialers)

error 619:
Check to see if any network programs running in the back ground is

turn off anti-virus and see if it works

Check your computer's, router's and ISP's Firewall
make sure they don't block port 1723 and/or GRE protocol.
(this is port pptp vpn use)

error 691
This usually happens when you suddenly D/C from the tsunagarumon Vpn. Wait a few minutes, and try to reconnect. (its takes a while for the vpn server to reboot and/or realize you D/C'ed)

Make sure your username and password is correct.

try rebooting the computer

it could also just mean the tsunagarumon server is down. (see tsuna's twitter~)

error 807
See error 619 (some times it throws this error instead)

Or it could mean that particular tsuna server is Overloaded atm. (wait a bit xD)

D/C alot? Try a different Tsuna vpn server.

tsunagarumon has more than 1 vpn server you can log onto.

The one you're probally using right now is the: 49.212.0.54
(this is the one the registration by default usually tells you about)

But there are two more lesser known about tsuna vpn servers~

The one I'll show you right now is the more reliable of the bunch:
(its still D/c's, but not nearly as much as the other ones~)

49.212.48.199

Pretty much you use this VPN address, you just pop it into place of the old address you were using before. (click click you vpn, properties, and just pop this over your old vpn address~)

You use the same tsuna Log-in credentials on all of the tsuna servers~

if you wanted to, you could make a second VPN connection, one for each vpn server. so in-case one server is overloaded, you just switch to the other~

Input lag/Internet speed

Some people who used this reported faster Updates, and less input lag!!!!

for me:
Faster update speeds. (A lot faster)

Less input lag. (Without this program, I can't use Shards + bolt combo)

and its made few of my other mmo's faster.
(it made tTO slower though xD)
