The Melon Leprechaun can also be found at the Caballa Mines.
I encountered him before the patch and killed 4. Didn't know what the Ripe Melons where for but I picked them up anyways since they had the "Ripe" in them which another Summer Camp event item also had - Ripe Watermelon.
~Not sure if the "red beans" or the "hidden shelter map" are part of the quest also but I begun to collect them just in case.
