There's 195-196 (do you count Kosovo as an independent country?) in the world. By his numbers 86% of the world is free, so we'll try to match that with the real number. We're going to include Kosovo as a free state. There are 57 countries in Africa, most of which are not considered free by American standards. We'll take out a generous 5 since some are free (South Africa, for example). 144 of the 196 countries of the world are free, that's 76%, I'm already right. I don't even have to stray down the road of Latin America, Turkic States (-stans), to prove why that statement is wrong.

Yes other countries have freedom. Is it worth that much to you to move to France so you can have freedom? Not likely.

Well it's subjective anyways, but let's go down this route anyways. We're behind in education because we're a big country with lots of people with lots of diversity. Schools in Maryland can do (and actually do) infinitely better than schools in Louisiana and West Virginia. States like LA and WV bring down the US's education by a lot. But really, what does it matter since we're hardly a manufacturing country but a service country. Our post-secondary education dominates most other country's anyways. And in a service-based country, post-secondary education > secondary education. Of course, that is not to say that there's no need for education reform, because there is reason for that.

Also by rapid-firing out statics, you can make it seem like we're doing so poorly since the average listener won't catch most of them but the poor ones.

Can't and won't talk about incarceration.

Religion is high because we're a big country. But if you want to consider a flat number of "believers" versus a percentage (which you should never do) then yeah, we can lead that category. Oh but even still religion has significantly less of an impact compared to a country like.... Iran. Percentage-wise, we're high, but we're not the highest.

Defense budget is high because America is the almighty police-force of the world. And of course, never looked at as a percentage because that would make sense and wouldn't get you thinking. If you look at the percentage of our GDP that we spend on defense, then it's noticeably lower. Still high, yes, (I think it's number 7 maybe) but lower than you'd think. Eritrea may spend less than us on defense, but they spend 20% of their GDP on defense while we spend only 4.7% of our GDP on defense.

Which is why America has historically been the most socially progressive country in the world? Oh, wait, we weren't. We were one of the last countries to officially outlaw slavery, and on top of it we had to fight a war over it (among other things). Women's voting rights didn't come until the 20th century and they still don't get equal pay. Standing up for what's right!! Yeah!!

-Revolutionary War: We fought our war of independence from Britain because the rich were mad they were getting taxed more (ps: they were still getting taxed less than Mother England). The "average" American would've seen little to no reason to ask for independence.

-Civil War: Only war that was fought for moral reasons and it wasn't even the only reason (states' rights, and others).

-World War I: We joined because unrestricted submarine warfare resulted in a neutral boat of our's getting sunk. We didn't even really want to join World War I (or World War II).

-World War II: Attacked by another country first. We weren't going to enter the war anyways. But all the meanwhile, we remained "neutral" and sold weapons to the country's that eventually became our allies. Oh and then imprisoned Japanese Americans on the West Coast because they're all spies. All of them. Every one of them.

-Korea/Vietnam: Not true wars. We fought them because we don't want communism to spread. Not a moral reason.

-Mexican-American War: We took Texass and Mexico didn't like that. More of a "self-defense" than anything.

-War of 1812: Fought because of trade restrictions, "humiliation" on the seas, Britain's support of Native Americas.

We're still the #1 innovator in the world. We still cure diseases. And we're still the biggest economy by a noticeable amount.

Still one of the few countries in the world that has been into space. Still one of a handful of country's that have an active space program. America is one of the most important countries in terms of Astronomy.

American Art is irrelevant until around modern art. And even then we're only significant because we just rebel against tradition.
