2. Elemental melee against monsters with DP, but no resistance

Now that we know basics about elemental melee, let's move further to understanding how DP affects elemental melee damage. The monster I chose is Addax.

As you see, his resistances are 100%, but he has 42 DP. Let's start hitting stuff

You can see that I dealt lower damage than my AP is. That is because of Addax's DP. Formula for damaging monsters with DP is: damage against monsters with DP = user AP-monster DP. My AP is 138, monster's DP is 42, 138-48=96, that's what we see.

Now about critical hits:

It is a bit more complicated. At first, it might look that there are 2 possible formulas:

1. (User AP-monster DP)*1.5

2. User AP*1.5-monster DP

To know which one is correct, we must put in the numbers.

1. (138-42)*1.5=96*1.5=144

2. 138*1.5-42=207-45=165

As you see, only the 2nd formula is correct, formula Nr. 1 gives us wrong numbers.

Now as we know all formulas needed, let's move on to actual elemental melee.

We can calculate the correct formula for damage we deal, because we know all of the numbers. These kind of calculations requires general understanding about game mechanics and some math knowledge, if you lack any of these, the only thing I could advice is noddle your head and pretend you understand everything

Hit damage with attribute against monsters with DP: user AP-monster DP+(user AP-monster DP)*elemental %. Once again, to make it clear, I will put in the numbers:

138-42+(138-42)*1.1=96+105.6=201.6=number we see in the picture.

Now critical hit part

All the fun starts here, the formula starts to get ENORMOUS.

Critical hit damage with attribute against monsters with DP: (user AP*1.5)-monster DP+(user AP*elemental %*1.5)-monster DP.

I think if we put the numbers it will be simplier, so let's do that:

(138*1.5)-42+(138*1.1*1.5)-42=165+185.7=350.7 ; 4 damage difference isn't that big and it doesn't change anything in the long run, so just ignore it.

Now I shall do the same using 2 elements

Hit damage with attribute against monsters with DP: user AP-monster DP + (user AP-monster DP)*elemental % + (user AP-monster DP)*elemental %

I will put the numbers now: 138-42+(138-42)*1.1+(138-42)*1.35=96+105.6+129.6=331.2. You can see that this formula really fits the actual numbers in the screen shot; Now to the critical hit part

Critical hit damage with attribute against monsters with DP: (user AP*1.5)-monster DP+(user AP*elemental %*1.5)-monster DP+(user AP*elemental %*1.5)-monster DP;

Numbers: (138*1.5)-42+(138*1.1*1.5)-42+(138*1.35*1.5)-42=165+185.7+237.45=588.15 that's roughly the same as in picture

(about this ^. If anyone knows where from that actual damage reduction comes from, please let me (us) know and write a comment here )

This is the end of part 2. As we saw, things are getting even more complicated now, but that doesn't change the fact that elemental attribute is a great way to increase your damage.

Just remember, the more AP you have = the greater is the effect of elemental melee
