yeah, it's pretty annoying.
Although I haven't had any impersonators yet, a good way to figure out it's not me is I don't really like asking to be lended a set since I'd rather hunt/get it myself and do the accessory quest that way. Partly because I don't want to hassle anyone with it and another is because I'm stubborn and it gives me additional motivation to complete the set myself.
