[E1] The Basics

In the game, monsters are not really as strong, but they will be if you are not careful. To make sure that your adventures are set, I have split up the two categories for each equip category: In-Game and Myshop. In-Game equips are gears you can get within the game. The Boss Uniques and Ult. Equipment can be dropped from Boss Monsters, unless you go and buy them from user-shops. (Boss Uniques can be very expensive than Ults. depend on the server economy.) It's up to you if you would ratter not waste to much real life money on Trickster, but be warned that trying to fund for in-game gears may cost extra Galders for Nate Elixirs (if needed), Elixirs, and Refine Powders, which all can get in-game via the "Lvl Up Giftbox".

For me, I'm built for PvM, despite the amount of MyShop I spent on. However, I try to fit right in with the PvP/GvG communities with a few extra equips that increase AP (because Tetra Punch's speed rate is faster than Inferno Blade). It is up to you with the choices I split up for In-Game viewers (OR boss unique collectors) and MyShop users. If you are planning to spend time on this game, there is a good chance that you will either be exposed to MyShop-independent or a fusion of in-game gears and MyShop ones. You decide.

Helmet:
Helmet

In-Game: Get a 3-slot Ult. Helmet of your current level and compound it with AP. Should cost around 1-mil to get the helm and the stones variety depend if they are affordable and on stock. Save the Elixirs unless you WANT to build a GvG/PvP helmet. If you want to use a Boss Unique, then compound with AC. Same goes for any Altiverse set (mainly "Flash Bat" or "Crimson") and add AC or LK to them.

MyShop/4G: There are not much options you can compound except for AC or DX. If you got a 4g3, then go get yourself an Inferno Helm (the only elemental attribute hat) and compound with Fire Crystal 215 or Fire Capsle (from MyShop). Elixir assistance is highly recommended.

Sword:

In-Game: There are a variety of Boss Weapons you can use depend on your prefered Elemental attack path. In order by levels:

Golden Sword (Earthquake Blade)

Guardian's Soul Staff (Tempest Strike)

Dread Cutlass (Tidal Slash)

Ice Heart Sword (Tidal Slash)

and Black Ash Staff (Earthquake Blade)

If you are planning to keep using these bad boys, you might ahve to spend a lot on Galders on Lvl. Up Giftboxes, which can grant you Elixirs, Refine Powders, and Nate's Bottles. These will help you in making them strong. Although keep in mind that these equips DO BREAK when you break them on your refinement. Also keep in mind: These equips are NOT CHEEP and HARD TO DROP when you either find them at a shop or encounter a boss. To keep in mind, you do NOT need any of the following equips to be a good Duelist! You can seek out a Blood Sword (Dark) or a Tentar Lion Tail Spear (Lighting), though prices do varry (same for the ones listed) on the server's marketplace economy.

If you CAN'T get any of the Uniques, there is always a 3s. Ult Sword of your level to compound with AC, although keep in mind that owning at least 1 Elemental Att. weapon (or supply with an 4G Inferno equip from MS/4G section) does INCREASE THE DAMAGE!

Recently, there are these equips called the "Altiverse" gears, and they are somehow more powerful than a boss equip above it's levels. I can't pull a proper guide on those (there should be one or few at ggFTW), but I do know that the "Flash Bat Sword" carries Earth Att. (for Earthquake) and "Crimson Sword" for Fire Att. (for Inferno). Also, all swords are twice as powerful for melee damage, so try to invest and play around with the Forging system (stock with "Stabilizers", which are MS-based) if you are dedicated enough. It is so darn ridiculous-awesome as in-game weapons have became so powerful compare to MS-based weapons. Take my word that it was fully optional and I can still enjoy playing the game with my current weapon. (The Trident to the right.)

MyShop/4g: For MyShop, there are various weapons you can try to get. For the Power types like the Duelist, there's the "Mar's Sword" or "Afrit's Firery Blade", both have Fire attribute when compound with the right crystals. The 4g1 also has "Inferno Blade", but the AP was not that great compare to the pre-stocked swords I mention at MyShop. Get one of them (or both) if you do not want to gamble for lolboxes.)

Speaking of lolboxes, there may be a weapon suited for your skill power depend on the stats provided. The best way to research them is to look out for the ggFTW Wiki updates or look around at the forums for info.

Shield:

In-Game: Try to get a 3-slot Ult. Shield of your Level and compound with HP. If your build has 3 Charm and under, you might have to make special compound care into your shield. If you did the Tentar Shield quest, you can have a untradable Tentar Shield (4-slots) and compound with HP as well.

If you are going to use Altiverse weapons, then you might as well try to work up on creating your own Flash Bat or Crimson shield. If you are rich enough to invest on those, these powerful babies can stack to over 5k worth of HP (on the highest-lvl equipment) and still be a tradable shield!

MyShop: Same treatment as the In-Game method, only that the lolboxes and pre-stock shields have more stat variety. Try to focus on a Charm-type shield if your HP is low.

Accessories:

In-Game: Okay. Finding in-game ones are very hard, but there are ones that are rewarded from quests. Please take advantage of those. Also, if you do all of the Boss Accessory quests, you will get a 3-slot accessory as a reward (about the same "level" as a MyShop one, only heavier in WT). If you get either of those, I would recommend compounding with HP for complete balance with a AP/Fire Hat, A Elemental Sword, and a HP shield. You can try to balance out with a HP comped accessory and a AP accessory, depend on the stats available to compound. Though since I don't see most in-game AP accessories besides your Guardian Rune, I would go HP all of the way for those. It also helps on your Boxer level and the 3rd job trials.

If you are aiming for the Altiverse sets, then the comps you would probably need to focus is at HP if you are conscious about your health, or AP if you are confident (and it was the popular comp set among the Power types). Use them if you are planning to use an Altiverse set. (I did not say this (and if you have read this so far), the sets can grant you "bonus stats" if you wear the matching name/level equipment!)

MyShop: Same principle as in-game accessories. Only that the stats may vary on every lolbox. Pre-stocked accessories are ALL TIMED. So to get permanent ones, keep an eye on the Event News for new MyShop releases and try to gamble for an accessory, as well other equips that you can find them useful. Again like the in-game section, try to EITHER balance out AP and HP (one acc. with HP, other with AP), or go straight out HP (on two accessories) and AP (on two accessories) DEPEND on your situation with low-HP bar for survivability!

Inner-wear:

In-Game: Okay. There are NOT alot of options you can do with Inner-Wears, and there is NO WAY you can live with the Lifeguard Jacket for to long! So for my case, I would try to get...

Golden Mole Vest (Lv. 60, HP comp)

Pop Leaf Vest (Lv. 90, HP comp) OR 3rd Anniversary Vest 90

2nd Aniv. Vest (Lv. 120, AP comp, optional)

I can't remember all of them, but these vests should last, even for the 3rd job trials.

MyShop: All Gacha and Pre-Stock Vests are all timed and would not reconmended getting them. Instead, keep an eye on Lolbox releases and see if it has the inner-wear with the stats that you desire. If you have all AP accessories, go HP on Vest, as well HP accessories for AP on vest. Again use your balance judgement or have both HP and AP vest ready if you have spares from opening Lolboxes (if you are aiming for pet)...

Pet:

In-Game: Besides the Baby Bunny (Lv. 20) and UFO (Lv. 50) pet you get as a quest reward, finding the pet for each level in-game is very hard. I have come to list some of the possible pets you can try to get....

Overall, the stats are not that great to a Myshop one, but it is better than nothing, and it's really passable at 3rd job trials with a Sissy Vilolae 90. (Which it's far the strongest I can ever thought of.) There are MORE tradable pets I did not list, but I wrote them pior to my knowledge and the stats available for a Power-type.

MyShop: Because in-game pets are not alot in variety and you have the Pts. to spend, try to aim for one of the pre-stocked pets (please right-click the "Crystal Pet" for leveling info), as well three Growth Vitamins (if there is a event that rewards Growth Vitamins like a luck wheel, then please take advantage of those). Keep in mind that using a Crystal pet will give you random stats, some may be worse than a in-game pet. However, gambling for lolboxes may take at least 1 box or 10+ boxes to get the pet, and it cost a lot of money! So.. Be careful if you want to aim for a lolbox pet! The good side is that the "haxx" stats are fixed, unless stated that the pet generates random stats.

Cape:

Spoiler!

In-Game: Thanks to Season 2, you get a free cape from Boxer Jeane once you advance to Boxer! The only downside is that it's timed, so once it's expired, you can not wear it again nor recharge (clarify this?). The only in-game cape that you should keep an eye for is "Pop Leaf Cape". Try to get it for 15mil and under and compound with LK (boo no HP!). Also when you completed Epi. 6 quests to activate the bonus quests, you can get a untradable in-game cape ("Trickster's Cloak"). If you do get it and want to compound it, I either go AP or LK. If you are smart and take advantage of these "Poppuri Drill + Hunt event", then you should be able to dedicate some time to get yourself a collection of in-game capes as your reward depending on what prices each event distributes.

MyShop/4G: All pre-stocked capes in MyShop are timed. If you want to aim for a permanent lolbox cape, be sure to research if the lolbox equip set is the character type for you! If you can invest your billions of Galders (depend on server economy), try to get a 4g5 for a Inferno Cape and compound it with Fire Attribute with Fire Crystal 215s. Getting Elixirs is highly recommended when compounding a Inferno Cape!

Mask:

In-Game: The only mask in-game is the Blood-Red Eyepatch from the Pirate Karan mask quest. You can either buy it directly, or go cheaper by buying 42 Pencil Boxes for 500k each and find someone who can lend you his/her Karan set for the quest. Compound with AC.

MyShop: Keep in mind when balancing your accessories in vest. If you want MY guidelines...

AP + HP acc + HP belt = AP mask

HP + HP acc + AP Belt = AP mask

AP + AP acc + HP Belt = HP mask

HP + HP acc + AP Belt = AP mask

HP on all acc. + belt = AP mask

AP on all acc. + belt = HP mask

... You know how that goes. Consider that slot an optional accessory slot if you do not have a Blood-Red Eyepatch with you.

Head Acc.:

In-Game: Somewhere around June 2012, eTO has released their first in-game head accessories called the "Rally Towel". If you can invest on a cheep one for Lv. 60 and Lv. 180, the only worthy compound slot is AP, since there are no HP slots for compounding.

MyShop: Okay. there are no in-game ones. Second, like me and Kyzuumi's view on this slot: This slot is like an 3rd accessory that sits on top of your head/hat. Please take a look at the silly chart I did for the mask section to get the idea on what to comp an head accessory with. For me I have a AP one because I felt it was necessary for my skills.

Sprint:

In-Game: There are these Lvl. 40 and other level-based gift boxes where it rewards you a sprint. Keep in mind that these are timed (same goes for the pre-set MyShop ones), so they do not last long, but they do help you run faster in-game for an amount of time. Do not use them unless you really need them. (You can vend those gift boxes for 5mil or Price-Check (PC) for the current marketplace price)

MyShop: The sprint i'm wearing is a "Kitty Earing" from the special Miracle Jen pet quest when you obtain a Miracle Jen pet from her lolboxes. It was the only non-timed accessory in-game, and if you think that spending alot of real-life money for those is worth it... You be the judge. But a permanent sprint is the ultimate luxury for a MyShopper, plus you can use Miracle Jen (I prefer the Lv. 190 ver, the highest level M. Jen pet released) to replace the in-game ones. So it's a win-win situation for me. (Again, you be the judge!) The bad news about it is that the Kitty lolboxes are only out for a limited of time. So the next time she might come out might be next year.... Who knows?
