Also; for your interest, other than playing as a Bard for Veninfang, I rarely play anything else but my Hunter.
Find a competent and equivalently geared Melee DPS or Magician/Illusionist pair and compare. As far as I'm concerned so far, comparing Hunters and Engineers is comparing the two lowest DPS classes outside of healers.

It's too bad you're on Aqua, I'd love to run against you and see Hunters proved worth something.

Also, what's your skill rotation and gear like?
