I got saddled with my little cousin's laptop that won't even fully start before giving a BSOD and list of errors for all of two seconds before restarting... and doing it all over again. I managed to write down what it said and the error codes, but I don't have a Windows XP disc that's needed for what appears to be the most common fix, booting off the disc. It's an old Acer hand-me-down so there's a good chance it'll be cheaper to just buy a new laptop if it's something worse than it appears.
