Just wondering, if you change names, will the log in to the IRC chat function chagne?

For example... if I enter the IRC right now, my forum ID is SuperXMeeRee, so that's what I first enter in IRC as. If I changed it, would it still remain as SuperXMeeRee, or would it change to what I want it to be?
